It is important to note that the type of Fast Attack you use for your Dynamax Pokémon determines the type of Charged Attack it uses in its Dynamax Phase. As an example, Dynamax Excadrill can learn both Mud Shot and Metal Claw as a Fast Attack. If you give Dynamax Excadrill Mud Shot as a Fast Attack, it will use a Ground-type attack in its Dynamax Phase. If you give it Metal Claw as a Fast Attack, it will use a Steel-type Attack in its Dynamax Phase. This only happens for Dynamax Pokémon. For Gigantamax Pokémon, their Charged Attacks are fixed to their Max Attack types.
