Community Days with 3× Catch Stardust
Community Days in Pokémon GO feature different bonuses. One of such is the 3× Catch Stardust. You should participate in such Community Days even if you do not like the featured Pokémon or if you already have enough of the Pokémon.
Your focus is the Stardust. Ensure you catch as many of the featured Pokémon as possible while using Star Piece throughout the Community Day.

Since Gigantamax Battle Days happen less frequently, you can use the Dynamax Legendary Max Battle events to maximize your Stardust. Each battle awards 15,000 Stardust upon completion. This becomes 22,500 Stardust per battle.
Stardust Boosted Pokémon
There are a few Pokémon in Pokémon GO that reward more Stardust after catching them. Examples of such Pokémon are Audino (2,100 base Stardust), Shellder (1,000 base Stardust), Combee (750 base Stardust), and Staryu (750 base Stardust).
Always prioritize these Pokémon when catching. You could also find out where these Pokémon spawn a lot. Go there, pop a Star Piece, and catch as much as you can find. You only need to complete each set to get the Stardust reward. However, if you want more Stardust rewards, win at least one battle or at most five battles per set.
In addition, the end-of-season Stardust rewards are substantial. The higher you rank in GBL, the more Stardust you get at the end of a Season.

Stack 12 km Egg Hatches
This method requires time. It is also tedious. However, the Stardust reward is massive. You will get 12 km Eggs after defeating a Rocket Leader if you have an empty egg slot.
Stacking twelve 12 km Eggs means you need an egg slot to be available when you are about to battle a Team GO Rocket Leader. Due to this, you could either use this method during a Team GO Rocket-themed event or do it over time.
Wait until an event with either half hatch distance or quarter hatch distance. Incubate the twelve 12 km Eggs after the event starts and get walking. Keep an eye on the distance and then pop a Star Piece when the eggs are about to hatch.
Bonus method
Save your Stardust. You do not need to power up a Pokémon until you actually need it. Likewise, when you get research tasks that require you to power up Pokémon, power up your best Pokémon that have lower CPs.
