Dynamax Hoothoot will make its debut in Pokémon GO on Monday, June 22, 2026, during the Max Monday Daily Discovery, from 6:00 a.m local time. It will continue to be at Power Spots until Sunday, June 14, 9:00 p.m. local time.
Please note, you cannot engage in Max Battles at any Power Spot between 9:00 p.m. and 5:59 a.m. local time. Furthermore, Dynamax Hoothoot is most likely going to be at Tier 1 Power Spots. If so, it will cost 250 Max Particles (MP) per battle.
Furthermore, I would not recommend that you remote raid Dynamax Hoothoot. If you do, it will cost you 250 MP and a Remote raid per battle.

Dynamax Hoothoot Recommended Counters
This is a Normal- and Flying-type Pokémon that is weak to Pokémon with either Electric-, Rock-, or Ice-type attacks. Therefore, max attackers with Electric-, Rock-, or Ice-type attacks are the strongest option. Furthermore, Hoothoot can learn a Flying- or a Dark-type Fast attack. Likewise, it can learn a Flying- or a Ghost-type Charged attack. You should use max defenders/healers that resist Flying-, Dark-, and Ghost-type attacks.
The following are the recommended counters to have in your battle party.
- Defender/Healer: Dynamax Blissey with Pound as Fast Attack and any attack as a Charged Attack.
- Attacker/Tanker: Dynamax Gigalith with Lock-On as Fast Attack and Meteor Beam as a Charged Attack.
- Attacker: Gigantamax Toxtricity with Spark as Fast Attack and any Electric-type Charged Attack.
Remember, Dynamax Hoothoot will most likely be in One-Star Max Battles, so most Trainers with a few powered-up Dynamax Pokémon should be able to defeat it comfortably.
Therefore, you may not need to use the above-recommended counters. In that case, make sure you prioritize Dynamax Pokémon with Electric Max Moves first as your attackers. This is because Electric-type attacks are generally the strongest against Dynamax Hoothoot.
Recommended Tips
Dynamax Hoothoot battles shouldn’t be difficult for those who use the recommended counters. However, if you need to pay close attention to the battle, then do these.
- Max Moves: Using the right counters with the right attacks is not enough. You also need to level up their max moves. Level up the Max Guard and Max Spirit for the Defender/Healer. Level up the Max Attack for the attackers. All should be at least at level 2.
- Max Energy: During the normal battle phase, ensure you dodge Hoothoot’s charged attacks when possible. Focus on generating Max Energy quickly. Then use the Max Energy in the dynamaxing phase, either to heal (Max Spirit) or guard (Maz Guard) the Pokémon in your battle party or to launch attacks (Max Attack) on Hoothoot.
- Battle with Friends: If you don’t have the recommended counters or the resources to level up their max moves, you should plan your battles with Friends who can help.
Rewards
You will get rewarded after you complete each Max Battle. One of the rewards is an encounter with Dynamax Hoothoot. If you are lucky, the encounter can be shiny. A good encounter has a CP that is above 350. The hundo CP for a Dynamax Hoothoot received as an encounter after completing a Max Battle is 387 CP.
Dynamax Hoothoot’s debut marks another exciting addition to the Max Monday lineup. Thanks to its Tier 1 status, walking away with a victory won’t require an overwhelming amount of effort or resources. By prioritizing strong Electric-type attackers like Gigantamax Toxtricity or reliable tanks like Dynamax Gigalith, you’ll easily glide through these Power Spot encounters.
Happy hunting, Trainers!
