The 2026 Pokémon World Championships will be partly a gathering of the world’s best Pokémon GO PvP battlers. These Trainers will gather in San Francisco, USA, IN August. The 2026 Pokémon World Championships mark the culmination of the 2025 – 2026 Play! Pokémon season.
Taking place from August 28–30, 2026, at the Moscone Center, San Francisco, California, USA, the event will crown a new Pokémon GO World Champion and showcase the highest level of competitive play in the game.
2026 Pokémon World Championships: The Biggest Stage in Competitive Pokémon GO
Since Pokémon GO joined the Pokémon World Championships in 2022, the game has continued to grow as a competitive electronic Sport. The 2026 World Championships will be the fifth edition to feature Pokémon GO, bringing together elite Trainers from around the world who earned invitations through the Play! Pokémon Championship Series.
Unlike open tournaments, Worlds is an invitation-only event. Competitors must qualify throughout the season by earning Championship Points at Regional Championships, International Championships, and other sanctioned events. Only the top performers advance to the final stage in San Francisco.
Pokémon GO’s Pokémon World Championships Gameplay
The Pokémon GO competition uses the Great League format, where Trainers build teams and compete in strategic best-of-three matches. Success depends on team composition, energy management, shield usage, move timing, and predicting opponents’ strategies.
