Bidoof Spotlight Hour in Pokémon GO (July 2026)

Is It Worth Playing the Bidoof Spotlight Hour in Pokémon GO

Pokémon GO Trainers have another exciting Spotlight Hour to look forward to, featuring the iconic and meme-loved Bidoof. Whether you’re chasing a shiny, stocking up on Candy, or filling out your Pokédex, this one-hour event offers an excellent opportunity to maximize your gameplay

Unlike previous Spotlight Hours that were traditionally held on Tuesdays, Pokémon GO Spotlight Hours are now scheduled every Thursday from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. local time, giving Trainers a consistent weekly opportunity to enjoy featured Pokémon and rotating bonuses.

Bidoof Spotlight Hour takes place on Thursday, July 30, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. local time.

Bidoof

It is one of the most recognizable and beloved Normal-type Pokémon in the entire franchise, affectionately known as the meme king of the Pokémon world. Originally introduced in Generation IV as part of the Sinnoh region, this plump, beaver-like Pokémon has captured the hearts of millions of fans through its endearing design, cheerful demeanor, and iconic buck teeth.

Bidoof Spotlight Hour Bonus

The featured bonus is especially valuable: 2× Transfer Candy for transferring Pokémon.

If you’ve been hoarding masses of Pokémon from recent events, raids, or community days, this is the ultimate hour to clear out your storage while doubling your candy returns.

Why the 2x Transfer Candy Bonus Matters

Candy is one of the foundational resources in Pokémon GO. Nearly every aspect of progression requires Candy, including:

  • Powering up your best raid and Master League counters

  • Evolving Pokémon to complete your Pokédex

  • Unlocking second Charged Attacks

  • Maxing out Pokémon with Candy XL (via conversions)

During the Spotlight Hour, every Pokémon you transfer to Professor Willow will reward double the normal amount of Candy.

To maximize your returns, catch as many wild spawns as possible during the hour, and transfer your unwanted catches on the spot to rake in massive candy reserves.

Can Bidoof Be Shiny?

Yes! Its shiny form is a distinct, toasted-peanut golden-brown coat, making it one of the most sought-after and meme-worthy shiny Pokémon in the game.

It’s important to note that Spotlight Hour does not increase shiny odds. However, because Bidoof will appear much more frequently throughout the event, you’ll have many more opportunities to encounter a shiny compared to normal gameplay.

The best strategy is simple:

  • Catch as many as possible.

  • Walk through areas with dense spawn points.

  • Use Incense while moving.

  • Place Lure Modules on PokéStops.

  • Use the Quick Catch technique to maximize encounters.

Is Bidoof Worth Catching?

From a purely competitive perspective, it isn’t shaking up the Master League or premier raid metas.

However, there are still plenty of reasons to catch Bidoof during Spotlight Hour:

  • Complete your Pokédex or stock up on Candy.

  • Hunt for the coveted Shiny.

  • Collect high-IV variants (or prepare for future themed cups).

  • Clear out your storage backlog while capitalizing on the transfer bonus.

Even if Bidoof isn’t leading your raid parties, the utility of the 2x transfer candy bonus makes mass-catching and clearing storage extremely rewarding.

Best Tips for Bidoof Spotlight Hour

  • Prepare Storage Beforehand: Since you will be catching dozens or hundreds of Pokémon to take advantage of the transfer window, tag all the Pokémon to transfer so you can easily mass transfer them when the Spotlight Hour starts at 6:00 p.m.

  • Stock Up on Poké Balls: Running out of Poké Balls can quickly halt your progress. Make sure you have a healthy stock of Poké Balls, Great Balls, and Ultra Balls ready.

  • Use Quick Catch: Quick Catch is the fastest way to churn through spawns and encounter more potential shinies during the hour.

  • Play in High-Spawn Locations: Parks, shopping districts, and college campuses generally offer the highest density of wild spawns to keep your momentum going.

  • Watch the Weather: Bidoof is boosted by Partly Cloudy weather conditions. If it’s partly cloudy during your local hour, wild spawn will have higher weather-boosted IV floors and reward extra Stardust upon capture.

Should You Participate?

Absolutely! Especially if your storage is overflowing and you need extra candy to power up your roster.

This Spotlight Hour is ideal for:

  • Trainers looking to clean up storage and build up massive candy stocks.

  • Shiny hunters hunting for Golden Shiny Bidoof.

  • Collectors completing local spawns.

  • New players building general resources.

While this  Pokémon is famously meme-tier, the 2× Transfer Candy bonus provides tremendous value for managing your collection.
