The Dark Skies event features the return of every Dynamax Pokémon that has been released in Pokémon GO. Trainers worldwide can participate in the event from Monday, August 18, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. local time. The event then continues until Saturday, August 23, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. local time.
In simple terms, the Dark Skies event is more like a Dark Skies Dynamax Battle Days. Dark Skies because there would be Dark Skies in-game around your avatar as Max Battles rage around the world. Also, there will be different Dynamax Pokémon appearing at different Power Spots on different days.

Dynamax Battle Days – Dark Skies Event
The following Dynamax Pokémon will be featured at Power Spots on the following days.
- Monday, August 18: Dynamax Beldum, Dynamax Caterpie, Dynamax Gastly, Dynamax Hatenna, Dynamax Krabby, Dynamax Latias, Dynamax Latios, Dynamax Shuckle, Dynamax Sableye, Dynamax Sobble, Dynamax Squirtle, and Dynamax Trubbish.
- Tuesday, August 19 and Wednesday, August 20: Dynamax Articuno, Dynamax Charmander, Dynamax Cryogonal, Dynamax Drilbur, Dynamax Kabuto, Dynamax Moltres, Dynamax Omanyte, Dynamax Pidove, Dynamax Rookidee, Dynamax Toxtricity (Amped Form), Dynamax Toxtricity (Low Key Form), and Dynamax Zapdos.
- Thursday, August 21 and Friday, August 22: Dynamax Bulbasaur, Dynamax Chansey, Dynamax Darumaka, Dynamax Entei, Dynamax Falinks, Dynamax Grookey, Dynamax Machop, Dynamax Passimian, Dynamax Raikou, Dynamax Suicune, Dynamax Skwovet, Dynamax Wailmer, and Dynamax Wooloo.
Please note that Dynamax Battles will occur between 6:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. local time. Also, all these Dynamax Pokémon can be shiny except Dynamax Sobble, Dynamax Hatenna, Dynamax Scorbunny, and Dynamax Grookey.
Furthermore, these Dynamax Pokémon will have a new Special Background when caught after defeating them in Max Battles. However, the new Special Background is not guaranteed. Your caught Dynamax Pokémon will have it if you are lucky.
Dark Skies Raids
In addition to Dynamax Pokémon appearing in the Power Spots, there will also be regular Pokémon featured in different raid tiers. They are as follows.
- One-Star Raids: Sinistea
- Three-Star Raids: Galarian Farfetch’d and Galarian Weezing.
- Five-Star Raids: Different legendary Pokémon on different days as follows.
- August 18 – August 20: Zacian and Zamazenta.
- August 21: Zacian
- August 22: Zamazenta
- Five-Star Raid Hours: Different legendary Pokémon during different raid hours as follows.
- Thursday, August 21, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. local time: Crowned Sword Zacian.
- Friday, August 22, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. local time: Crowned Sword Zamazenta.
Event Wild Encounters
The following Pokémon will appear more frequently in the wild during the event days.
- Grookey
- Scorbunny
- Sobble
- Skwovet
- Wooloo
Dark Skies event Bonuses
Trainers participating in the event will receive the following bonuses between 12:00 a.m. and 11:59 p.m. local time on the event days.
- More Power Spots than usual will be active.
- Power Spots will refresh every 30 minutes.
- Max Particle collection limit will increase.
Furthermore, the Remote Raid Pass limit will increase to 30 from Monday, August 18, to Friday, August 22, 2025.
The Dark Skies event looks exciting. However, to make it more fun, there will be a Timed Research focused on winning Max Battles. Completing the Timed Research will reward Trainers with Zacian Candy, Zamazenta Candy, and encounters with Grookey, Scorbunny, and Sobble.
