Pokémon GO Trainers have another exciting Spotlight Hour to look forward to, featuring the festive Delibird. Whether you’re chasing a shiny, stocking up on Stardust, or filling out your Pokédex, this one-hour event offers an excellent opportunity to maximize your gameplay.
Unlike previous Spotlight Hours that were traditionally held on Tuesdays, Pokémon GO Spotlight Hours are now scheduled every Thursday from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. local time, giving Trainers a consistent weekly opportunity to enjoy featured Pokémon and rotating bonuses.
Delibird Spotlight Hour takes place on Thursday, August 6, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. local time.
Delibird
It is an Ice- and Flying-type Pokémon in Pokémon GO. Likewise, it is a bird-like Pokémon known for carrying food in its tail pouch. While it is a fun fan-favorite during the winter holidays and special themed events, it is sometimes available in the wild.
Delibird Spotlight Hour Bonus
This week’s featured bonus is especially valuable: 2× Stardust for catching Pokémon
If you’re trying to power up Pokémon, unlock second Charged Attacks, or prepare for upcoming raids and GO Battle League seasons, this is one Spotlight Hour you won’t want to miss.
Why the 2× Stardust Bonus Matters
Stardust is one of the most valuable resources in Pokémon GO. Nearly every aspect of building stronger Pokémon requires Stardust, including:
- Powering up Pokémon
- Unlocking second Charged Attacks
- Trading Pokémon
- Preparing raid teams
- Building competitive GO Battle League teams
During Delibird Spotlight Hour, every Pokémon you catch will reward double the normal Stardust.
To maximize your Stardust earnings, activate Two Star Pieces at the start of the event. Since a Star Piece increases Stardust gained by 50%, combining it with the Spotlight Hour bonus can result in a substantial Stardust haul in just one hour. With Star Piece activated, your total Stardust per catch will be 3x the normal baseline amount.
Can Delibird Be Shiny?
Yes! Its shiny form replaces Delibird’s signature red outfit with a distinctive purple color, making it one of the game’s most recognizable shiny Pokémon.
It’s important to note that Spotlight Hour does not increase shiny odds. However, because Delibird will appear much more frequently throughout the event, you’ll have many more opportunities to encounter a shiny compared to normal gameplay.
The best strategy is simple:
- Catch as many as possible.
- Walk through areas with dense spawn points.
- Use Incense while moving.
- Place Lure Modules on PokéStops.
- Use the Quick Catch technique to maximize encounters.
Is Delibird Worth Catching?
From a competitive perspective, it isn’t among Pokémon GO’s strongest Pokémon.
Its Ice/Flying typing gives it several weaknesses, and its stats fall well behind top Ice-type attackers like Mamoswine, Baxcalibur, and Galarian Darmanitan. Likewise, it sees very little use in the GO Battle League.
However, there are still plenty of reasons to catch Delibird during Spotlight Hour.
- Complete your Pokédex.
- Hunt for a shiny.
- Collect high-IV versions.
- Add another Pokémon to your collection.
- Earn large amounts of Stardust thanks to the event bonus.
Even if you don’t plan to use it in battle, the Stardust bonus alone makes participating worthwhile.
Best Tips for Delibird Spotlight Hour
- Activate Star Piece: This is the single best way to maximize your Stardust gains. Combined with the 2× Stardust event bonus, you’ll earn significantly more Stardust from every Pokémon you catch.
- Clear Your Pokémon Storage: You’ll likely catch hundreds of Pokémon during the hour. Make room beforehand so you don’t waste valuable time transferring Pokémon.
- Stock Up on Poké Balls: Running out of Poké Balls can quickly slow your progress. Make sure you have plenty of Poké Balls, Great Balls, and Ultra Balls before the event begins.
- Use Quick Catch: Quick Catch is the fastest way to increase the number of Pokémon you catch during Spotlight Hour. More catches mean more Stardust and more chances at finding a shiny.
- Play in High-Spawn Locations: Parks, shopping districts, downtown areas, and university campuses generally provide the highest concentration of wild Pokémon, helping you make the most of the one-hour event.
- Watch the Weather: Delibird is boosted by Snow weather conditions. If it snows during your local Spotlight Hour, caught Delibird will have higher weather-boosted IV floors (level 35 maximum in the wild) and reward an extra 25% Stardust bonus on top of the 2x event bonus!
Should You Participate?
Absolutely! Especially if you’re looking to build your Stardust reserves.
This Spotlight Hour is ideal for:
- Trainers saving Stardust for future power-ups.
- Shiny hunters looking for Shiny Delibird.
- Collectors completing their Pokédex.
- New players building their Pokémon collection.
- Competitive players preparing Pokémon for raids or GO Battle League.
While this Pokémon itself isn’t a top-tier battler, the 2× Stardust bonus provides tremendous long-term value.
