Dynamax Latias and Dynamax Latios will make their debut in Pokémon GO during the July 2025 Max Battle Weekend. Both legendary Dynamax Pokémon will be featured in Power Spots as five-star Max Battles. The Max Battle Weekend is scheduled for Saturday, July 26, at 6:00 a.m. to Sunday, July 27, 2025, at 9:00 p.m. local time.
Dynamax Latias and Latios Max Battle Weekend Bonuses
Trainers participating in the Max Battle Weekend will have access to the following during the event.
- Max Particle collection limit increased to 1,600.
- 0.5 km adventuring distance to receive Max Particles.
- Power Spots will refresh every 30 minutes.
- 800 Max Particles from Power Spots.
In addition to the above bonuses, the following bonus will be active from Monday, July 21, at 6:00 a.m. to Sunday, July 27, 2025, at 9:00 p.m. local time.
- 3/4 Max Particle cost for unlocking and powering up Max Moves.
Dynamax Latias and Latios Max Battle Weekend Timed Research
Starting Monday, July 21, 2025, at 6:00 a.m. local time, all Trainers will automatically receive a Timed Research. You can complete the Timed Research to encounter a Dynamax Gastly. Dynamax Gengar is one of the best Pokémon you can have in your battle party against Dynamax Latias and Dynamax Latios.
The Timed Research tasks will also award Gastly Candy, Max Particles, and more to help power up your battle team.
Please note that Timed Research expires. The Timed Research rewards must be claimed before Sunday, July 27, 2025, at 9:00 p.m. local time.
Recommended Counters against Dynamax Latias and Dynamax Latios
Both Dynamax legendary Pokémon are weak to Pokémon with either a Bug-, Ghost-, Ice-, Dragon-, Dark-, or Fairy-type move. You will want to use Gigantamax or Dynamax Pokémon that can learn any of these moves.
Dynamax Battles require a maximum of 4 Trainers per battle. You will generally want to use two defenders and one attacker in your battle team. They are as follows.
Dynamax Latias Counters
- Zamazenta (Crowned Shield) with Metal Claw as a Fast Attack and Behemoth Bash as a Charged Attack. The role of this Pokémon is a defender and should be the Pokémon in the first team slot. It should have its Max Guard maxed.
- Gigantamax Snorlax with Lick as a Fast Attack and Earthquake as a Charged Attack. The role of this Pokémon is a defender and should be the Pokémon in the second team slot. It should have its Max Guard maxed.
- Zacian (Crowned Sword) with Metal Claw as a Fast Attack and Behemoth Blade as a Charged Attack. The role of this Pokémon is an attacker and should be the Pokémon in the third team slot. It should have its Max Attack maxed. OR Gigantamax Gastly with Shadow Claw as a Fast Attack and Shadow Punch as a Charged Attack. The role of this Pokémon is an attacker and should be the Pokémon in the third team slot. It should have its Max Attack maxed.
Dynamax Latios Counters
