The Fossil Research Day in Pokémon GO features Tyrunt and Amaura appearing more frequently in event-themed Field Research. Trainers will also have an increased chance of encountering Shiny Tyrunt and Shiny Amaura.
Fossil Research Day
The Fossil Research Day is on Saturday, August 2, 2025. It starts at 2:00 p.m. and ends at 5:00 p.m. local time. Tyrunt and Amaura will be available in Field Research. However, Omanyte, Kabuto, Lileep, Anorith, Cranidos, Shieldon, Tirtouga, and Archen will be available in the wild.
Paid Timed Research
There will also be an event-themed special research for those who want added experience. This research is available for US$1.99 (or the equivalent pricing tier in your local currency). It will grant trainers who bought it access to the event-exclusive Timed Research.
Please note, this Timed Research will challenge you to complete Field Research tasks to encounter more of Tyrunt and Amaura. Essentially, you will get multiple pages of research. Completing the research grants you more encounters with Tyrunt and Amaura.
