Gigantamax Lapras Max Battle Day is back! Trainers who missed its debut have the opportunity to battle Gigantamax Lapras during the July 2025 Max Battle Day. Likewise, Trainers who did but want to get more or a better one can also try their luck again.
Gigantamax Lapras made its debut in Pokémon GO during its first Max Battle Day. This was on Sunday, December 8, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time.
Gigantamax Lapras Max Battle Day Details
Gigantamax Lapras is back in Max Battles on Saturday, July 19, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time. If you are lucky, you may encounter a Shiny Gigantamax Lapras.
Event Bonuses
Trainers participating in the Max Battle Day will have access to the following bonuses during the event.
- Remote Raid Pass limit increased to 20 from Friday, July 18, at 5:00 p.m. to Saturday, July 19, 2025, at 8:00 p.m. PDT
- Max Particle collection limit increased to 1,600
- 0.5 km Adventuring distance to receive Max Particles
- 600 Max Particles from exploring
- Power Spots will refresh every 30 minutes
- 800 Max Particles (+20 extra) from Power Spots
- Two additional Special Trades can be made.
Please note, the 0.5 km Adventuring distance to receive Max Particles and 600 Max Particles from exploring will be available from 12:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time on Saturday, July 19.

In addition to the event bonuses, there will be event-themed research that Trainers can complete for additional rewards. These are as follows.
- There will be a free Timed Research opportunity available to Trainers starting Monday, July 14, 2025, at 6:00 a.m. local time. Completing this Timed Research leads to an encounter with Dynamax Passimian. The Timed Research tasks will also award Passimian Candy, Max Particles, and more to help power up your battle team.
- For US$4.99 (or the equivalent pricing tier in your local currency), you’ll be able to access event-exclusive Timed Research. Completing the Timed Research will grant those who purchase it 1 Max Mushroom, and 25,000 XP. In addition, purchasers will get 2x XP from Max Battles, and 5,600 Max Particle collection limit.
Recommended Counters for Gigantamax Lapras
To be able to defeat Gigantamax Lapras in Max Battles, you need to have the proper team composition and also be able to battle it with many other trainers. Gigantamax Max Battles require a high number of Trainers to defeat it easily. So you will want to ensure you attend a Community Ambassador-hosted Max Battle Day. That would help you meet other trainers. In addition, you get bonuses when you attend and check into the event hosted via the Campfire App.
The following are the recommended Pokémon you need to defeat Gigantamax Lapras. Make sure you create a battle party with these before you enter the Max Battle. Switch to your battle party before starting the Max Battle.
- Zamazenta Crowned Shield as a Tanker. It should have Metal Claw as a Fast Attack and Behemoth Bash as a Charged Attack. In addition, its Max Guard should be at the max level.
- Zacian Crowned Shield as an Attacker. It should have Metal Claw as a Fast Attack and Behemoth Blade as a Charged Attack. In addition, its Max Attack should be at the max level.
- Gigantamax Rillaboom as an Attacker. It should have Razor Leaf as a Fast Attack and Grass Knot as a Charged Attack. In addition, its Max Attack should be at the max level.
If you do not have any of those, you can use the following.
- Dynamax Blissey as a Tanker. It should have Pound as a Fast Attack and Psychic as a Charged Attack. In addition, its Max Spirit should be at the max level.
- Gigantamax Blastoise as a Defender. It should have Bite as a Fast Attack and Flash Cannon as a Charged Attack. In addition, its Max Guard should be at the max level.
- Gigantamax Rillaboom as an Attacker. It should have Razor Leaf as a Fast Attack and Grass Knot as a Charged Attack. In addition, its Max Attack should be at the max level.
