Pokémon GO Goomy Community Day: Tips & Tricks

June 2024 Pokémon GO Community Day featuring Goomy, the Soft Tissue Pokémon, is on Sunday, June 9, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time. The event features Goomy appearing more than usual in the wild with increased shiny odds of 1 in 25.

Legacy Attack/Move

During the event, and up to five hours afterward (i.e. till 10:00 p.m. local time), you can fully evolve Goomy into Goodra to get a Goodra that knows Thunder Punch as a Charged Attack/Move.

Thunder Punch is an exclusive Electric-type Charged Attack that deals 55 damage in Trainer Battles (PVP) and 45 damage in Gyms and raids (PVE).

You will need 25 Candy to evolve Goomy into Sliggoo, and 100 Candy plus Rainy Lure Module on a PokéStop (or Rainy weather in-game) to evolve Sliggoo into Goodra.

100% IV Goomy

There are many possibilities to encounter a 100% IV Goomy in the wild. You will need to know all the maximum CP for all the different Goomy power-up levels. This varies for boosted weather and non-boosted weather Goomy. You will need to catch as many as our However, it is easier to know the CP of a 100% IV Goomy encountered via completing Field Research. The CP of a 100% IV Goomy from field research is 418 CP and a power-up level of 15.

Special Research Story

You can purchase the Community Day Special Research Story for US $1.00 (or the equivalent pricing tier in your local currency) to access the Goomy Community Day exclusive research.

The research story will reward encounters with Goomy and its evolutions, Lucky Egg, Starpiece, Items, and more.

Event Bonuses (till 5:00 p.m. local time)

  • 2x Candy for catching Pokémon.
  • 3x Stardust for catching Pokémon.
  • 2x chance for Trainers level 31 and up to receive Candy XL from catching Pokémon.
  • Lure Modules activated during the event will last for three hours.
  • Incense (excluding Daily Adventure Incense) activated during the event will last for three hours.
  • Take five snapshots during Community Day for encounters with Goomy.

You can gain up to 450,000 Stardust during the 3 hours if you catch as many as you can while using Starpieces for the entire duration of the Goomy Community Day.

You can also gain a lot of candy during the 3 hours if you catch as many as you can while using a max-level mega Pokémon for the entire duration of the Goomy Community Day. The best Pokémon to mega evolve is any Dragon-type Pokémon e.g. Mega Charizard X, Mega Ampharos, Mega Sceptile, Mega Altaria, Mega Salamence, Mega Latios, Mega Latias, Mega Rayquaza, or Mega Garchomp. To gain more candy, use Pinap (or Silver) Berries while catching.

Event Bonuses (till 10:00 p.m. local time)

  • You can do an additional Special Trade for a maximum of three for the day.
  • Trades will require 50% less Stardust.

Raid Bonus (5:00 p.m. till 10:00 p.m. local time)

There will be bonus raids after the three hours of Community Day. The bonus raids are four-star local Raid Battles featuring Sliggoo. Winning a raid will cause more Goomy to appear around the Gym that hosted the raid. More Goomy will appear for 30 minutes.

Timed Research

A timed research awarding one Rainy Lure Module will be available between 2:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. local time.

Field Research Tasks

Field research tasks awarding additional encounters with Goomy, Stardust, Great Balls, and more will be available between 2:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. local time. The research task is as follows;

  • Catch 3 Goomy

PokéStop Showcases

There will be PokéStop showcases featuring Goomy and Goodra. Make sure you enter your largest Goomy and Goodra to increase your chances of getting some rewards when the showcase ends on Sunday, June 9, 2024, at 8:00 p.m. local time. Also, each showcase win counts towards the Showcase Star medal that awards an encounter with Phd Pikachu.
