How to Get Souvenir from Your Buddy in Pokémon GO

By design, your buddy Pokémon is meant to bring you souvenirs once in a while. However, not every Pokémon you have as a buddy will bring you the souvenirs. There are certain things you need to do to have your buddy get you souvenirs.

Sidenote: Buddy souvenirs are currently useless in-game. They are just collector’s items that you can find on your buddy’s profile page.

To get a souvenir from your buddy Pokémon in Pokémon Go, follow these steps:

  • Select a Pokémon to be your buddy.
  • Build up affection hearts. You build up affection hearts with your buddy when you walk with it, feed it Berries, play with it, battle with it, take snapshots with it, and visit a new PokéStop with it. These build up your buddy’s mood which you can speed by using a Poffin. These (and occasional Bonus) get your buddy more affection hearts and increased Buddy levels – Good, Great, Ultra, and Best Buddy.
  • Wait for the souvenir. Your buddy will start bringing you souvenirs after it reaches Ultra Buddy. These souvenirs come occasionally and are random. They include things like a seashell, a flower, or a stick. (The other called Presents contains usable items like Berries or Portions. Your buddy starts bringing you presents when it reaches Great Buddy).
  • Collect the souvenir: When your buddy brings you a souvenir, you will see a notification in the game. You can collect the souvenir by tapping on the notification or by going to your buddy’s profile and selecting the souvenir from the list of items it has brought you.

Note: Souvenirs are not guaranteed every time your buddy reaches the Ultra Buddy level, but the chances increase the more you interact with your buddy.
