
Mega Houndoom is a Dark- and Fire-type Dark Pokémon. It is available in Pokémon GO via Mega Raids. It is moderately weak (1.6x) to Pokémon with either Fighting-, Ground-, Rock-, or Water-type attacks. Its base form (i.e. Houndoom) best moves are Snarl as a Fast Attack, and Foul Play, as a Charged Attack.
FUN FACT: Mega Houndoom made its debut in Pokémon GO after the September 2020 Mega Unlock event. The event was from Friday, September 11, 2020, at 8:00 a.m. to Thursday, September 17, 2020, at 10:00 p.m. local time.

Using the above-recommended teams will make trainers 2 – 3 Trainers defeat Mega Houndoom faster. However, if you do not have these full teams, you can still win. You need to raid with at least 4 other trainers. Ensure you use Pokemon with either Fighting-, Ground-, Rock-, or Water-type move as a Fast Attack and as a Charged Attack.
Other important details about Houndoom
- Houndoom’s maximum Combat Power (CP) stat is 2979 CP (at level 50).
- Its best moves/attacks in Pokémon GO are Snarl as a Fast Attack, and Foul Play as a Charged Attack.
- Its encounters are boosted during Fog or Sunny weather in-game.
- Its encounters can be Shiny.
- It requires a maximum of 3 km walking distance to earn a Candy and 15 Mega Energy (if you already Mega-evolved the Houndoom).
- Houndoom is effective against Pokémon with Dark-, Fire-, Ghost-, Grass-, Ice, Steel-, and Psychic-type moves/attacks.
- Any Houndoom obtained from Mega Raids can be encountered as follows
- from 1432 CP to 1505 CP (if not weather-boosted i.e., level 20)
- from 1790 CP to 1882 CP (if weather-boosted i.e. level 25)
- Any Houndoom obtained from a Field or Special Research can be from 1074 CP to 1129 CP (i.e. level 15).
- 1505 CP, 1882 CP, and 1129 CP are the CP for a perfect (aka, hundo) one when encountered from their respective means.
- For PokéStop Showcases, the tallest possible one is 2.45 m high (i.e. XXL). The shortest possible one is 0.69 m high (i.e. XXS).
- Houndoom requires 100 Mega Energy for its first Mega Evolution into Mega Houndoom
In conclusion, defeating Mega Houndoom in Mega raids requires a well-prepared team of strong Fighting-, Ground-, Rock-, or Water-type Pokémon.
