Mega Metagross Raid Day is finally here. It is one of the most anticipated Mega Pokémon in Pokémon GO. Mega Metagross will make its debut in Pokémon GO. Trainers will be able to battle Mega Metagross in Mega Raids. Upon winning mega raids, Trainers will be able to catch Metagross, receive Metagross Mega Energy, and more. In addition, Metagross encountered from the Mega Raids can be shiny, if you are lucky.
Mega Metagross Raid Day
The Mega Raid Day is on Saturday, October 4, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time. Consequently, Trainers will be able to encounter Metagross and receive other items as rewards after defeating Mega Metagross. The rewards include Mega Energy needed to Mega Evolve Metagross (Beldum’s final evolution) into its Mega form. Please note that the initial Mega Evolution cost is 300 Metagross Mega Energy. Subsequent Mega Metagross Evolutions will cost 60 Metagross Mega Energy.
Furthermore, Metagross encountered in Mega Raids will know the Fast Attack Shadow Claw. After the event, Metagross will be able to learn the featured attack via Elite Fast TM. Shadow Claw is a Ghost-type Fast attack. It is effective against Ghost- and Psychic-type Pokémon.
Mega Metagross’s stats
Mega Metagross, a Steel- and Psychic-type Pokémon, will have an attack stat of 300, a defense stat of 289, and a HP stat of 190. These attack stats make it one of the best Steel- or Psychic-type attackers in Pokémon GO. Although there are better Steel-type Pokémon (e.g., Crowned Sword Zacian) and Psychic-type Pokémon (e.g., Shadow Mewtwo) in Pokémon GO. Furthermore, Mega Metagross’s maximum Combat Power stat is 5552 CP. This is the CP for a maxed-Pokémon level and perfect Metagross in its Mega Evolved form.
Hundo Metagross from Raids
If the Metagross you encounter has a CP of 2166 or 2708, that’s a hundo. A perfect (hundo) Metagross has 2166 CP in non-weather boosted conditions and 2708 CP in weather boosted conditions.
Mega Metagross Weakness and counters
Mega Metagross is weak to Pokémon with Dark-, Fire-, Ghost-, and Ground-type moves. This means your best counters against Mega Metagross are as follows.
- Primal Groudon with Ground-type Fast and Charged Moves
- Dawn Wings Necrozma with Ghost-type Fast and Charged Moves
- Shadow Charizard with Fire-type Fast and Charged Moves
- Shadow Tyranitar with Dark-type Fast and Charged Moves
- Shadow Hydreigon with Dark-type Fast Move and Charged Moves
- Shadow Groudon with Ground-type Fast and Charged Moves
If you don’t have the Shadow forms of the recommended Pokémon, you can use their non-shadow form. Either way, ensure your counters are powered up to at least their level 35.
