Mega Rayquaza was the featured Pokémon during one of the October 2025 Pokémon GO Mega Raid Day. This short story summarizes how well I made use of the event-themed bonuses available during the Mega Raid Day.
The Mega Rayquaza Mega Raid Day came with two different category of event-themed bonuses. These were the free bonuses and the paid additional bonuses. We’ll look at both in one big list of bonuses.
All Event Bonuses
The focus of this story will be on all the bonuses available during the event. These are as follows
- Remote Raid Pass limit increased to 20.
- 14 Daily Raid Passes from spinning Gym Photo Discs
- Increased chance of encountering Shiny Rayquaza from Mega Raids.
- Increased chance to get Rare Candy XL from Raid Battles.
- 50% more XP from Raid Battles.
- 2× Stardust from Raid Battles.
The table below shows the before, the after, and the gains or losses. This excludes the remote raids and the in-person raids done. Both will be accounted for by the number of Rayquaza seen.
| Bonus | Before | After | Gains (+) or Losses (-) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 50% more XP from Raid Battles | 1,030,622,761 | 1,033,626,922 | +3,004,161 XP* |
| 2x Stardust from Raid Battles | 69,258,306 | 69,570,998 | +312,692 Stardust* |
| Increased Rare Candy XL chance | 276 | 287 | 11 Rare Candy XL |
| Increased Shiny Rayquaza chance | 8 | 21 | 13 Shiny Rayquaza |
| Meteorite | 3 | 5 | +2 Meteorite |
To analyze the XP, Stardust, Rare Candy XL and Shiny Rayquaza gained per raid, let us look at number of Rayquaza caught during the Mega Raid Day.
| Details | Before | After | Gains (+) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Seen | 248 | 330 | +82 |
| Caught | 220 | 296 | +76 |
I was able to catch about 93% of all the raids that I did. The remaining 7% was lost due to the freeze glitch and the other bugs that occurred during the Mega Raid Day. It is also important to note that 40 of the 82 raids done were Remote Raids.
Analysis
Based on the number of Rayquaza caught, these are the XP, Stardust, Rare Candy XL and Shiny Rayquaza per catch.
- XP per raid: 39,528
- Stardust per raid: 4,114
- Rare Candy XL catch: 0.14
- Shiny Rayquaza odds per catch: 0.17
Furthermore, analyzing the base XP and Stardust per catch for the Rayquaza caught shows the following. This is the XP and Stardust gained if other activities were not included in the previously calculated XP and Stardust gained.
Completing a Mega Legendary Raid rewards 13,000 XP and 1,000 Stardust per raid. Likewise, I used Lucky Egg and Star Piece throughout the in-person Mega Raid Day. These will be considered in the calculation below.
| Bonus | In-person Mega Rayquaza Raid Completed | Base Value + Bonus | Total Gains (+) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Raid XP | 42 | A + 50% more XP bonus = 39,000 XP | +1,638,000 Total XP |
| Raid Stardust | 42 | B x 2 = 3,000 Stardust | +126,000 Total Stardust |
Other gains
The table below presents the other gains from the Mega Raid Day that are not directly linked to the bonuses.
| Items | Before | After | Gains | Gains per raid |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Fast TM | 429 | 448 | 19 | 0.23 |
| Charged TM | 404 | 445 | 41 | 0.5 |
| Rare Candy | 374 | 463 | 89 | 1.085 |
| Rayquaza Candy | 887 | 1,053 | 166 | 2.024 |
| Rayquaza Candy XL | 709 | 934 | 225 | 2.74 |
From the analysis done, we can conclude the following using the event-themed bonuses.
- Remote Raid Pass limit increased to 20. Satisfactory
- 14 Daily Raid Passes from spinning Gym Photo Discs. Satisfactory
- Increased chance of encountering Shiny Rayquaza from Mega Raids. Satisfactory
- Increased chance to get Rare Candy XL from Raid Battles. Poor
