The Mega Raid Day featuring Mega Rayquaza is coming up in Pokémon GO on Saturday, October 18, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time. Trainers will be able to battle Mega Rayquaza in Mega Raids. Upon winning mega raids, Trainers will be able to catch Rayquaza , receive Rayquaza Mega Energy, and more. In addition, Rayquaza encountered from the Mega Raids can be shiny, if you are lucky.
Please note that you will also need to teach Rayquaza a Charged Move called Dragon Ascent before you can Mega evolve the Rayquaza. Rayquaza can only learn Dragon Ascent with the use of a Meteorite. More details about this soon. Stay tuned!

Mega Rayquaza’s stats
Mega Rayquaza, a Legendary Dragon- and Flying-type Pokémon, has an attack stat of 377, a defense stat of 210, and a HP stat of 227. These attack stats make it one of the best Dragon- or Flying-type attackers in Pokémon GO. Furthermore, Mega Rayquaza’s maximum Combat Power stat is 6458 CP. This is the CP for a maxed-Pokémon level and perfect Rayquaza in its Mega Evolved form.
Hundo Rayquaza from Raids
If the Rayquaza you encounter has a CP of 2191 or 2739, that’s a hundo. A perfect (hundo) Rayquaza has 2191 CP in non-weather boosted conditions and 2739 CP in weather boosted conditions.
Mega Rayquaza Weakness and counters
Mega Rayquaza is especially weak to Pokémon with Ice-type moves. It is also week to Pokémon with Rock-, Fairy-, and Dragon-type moves. This means your best counters against Mega Rayquaza are as follows.
- White Kyurem with Ice-type Fast and Charged Moves
- Black Kyurem with Dragon-type Fast move and Ice-type Charged Moves
- Eternatus with Dragon-type Fast and Charged Moves
- Shadow Mamoswine with Ice-type Fast and Charged Moves
- Mega Rayquaza with Dragon-type Fast Move and Charged Moves
- Shadow Aurorus with Ice-type Fast and Charged Moves
If you don’t have the Shadow forms of the recommended Pokémon, you can use their non-shadow form. Either way, ensure your counters are powered up to at least their level 35.
Likewise, if you this is your first time experiencing Mega Rayquaza, that probably mean you don’t have one yet. Therefore, you can use Mega Gardevoir as a counter instead.
All my best wishes
