Mega Sharpedo debuts in Pokémon GO during the first Mega Raid Day in September 2025. Consequently, Trainers will be able to get the Mega Energy needed to Mega Evolve Sharpedo (Carvanha’s evolution) into its Mega form.
Mega Sharpedo Raid Day
The Raid Day is on Sunday, September 7, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time. Mega Sharpedo will be available in Mega Raids during the event time. Trainers able to defeat Mega Sharpedo will encounter Sharpedo as a bonus catch reward. Trainers will also get different resources and items as rewards, including Sharpedo’s Mega Energy. In addition, Sharpedo encountered from the Mega Raids can be shiny, if you are lucky.
Hundo Sharpedo from Raids
If the Sharpedo you encounter has a CP of 1246 or 1558, that’s a hundo. A perfect (hundo) Sharpedo has 1246 CP in non-weather boosted conditions and 1558 CP in weather boosted conditions.
Mega Sharpedo Weakness
As a Water- and Dark-type Pokémon, Mega Sharpedo is weak to Pokémon with Electric- Fighting-, Grass-, Fairy-, and Bug-type moves. This means your best counters against Mega Sharpedo are as follows.
- Mega Lucario with Fighting-type Fast and Charged Moves
- Shadow Raikou with Electric-type Fast Move and Fighting-type Charged Moves
- Shadow Conkeldurr with Fighting-type Fast and Charged Moves
- Kartana with Grass-type Fast and Charged Moves
- Xurkitree with Electric-type Fast Move and Grass-type Charged Moves
- Keldeo with Fighting-type Fast and Charged Moves
Event Bonuses
To assist Trainers in making the best use of the Mega Raid Day, the following bonuses will be active.
- Remote Raid Pass limit increased to 20 from Saturday, September 6, at 5:00 p.m. to Sunday, September 7, 2025, at 8:00 p.m. PDT.

- Increased chance of encountering Shiny Sharpedo from Mega Raids.
However, if you want to improve your experience at a cost, there will be an event ticket you can purchase. For US$4.99 (or the equivalent pricing tier in your local currency), you can purchase a ticket that grants the following additional bonuses.
- Eight additional free Raid Passes from spinning Gym Photo Discs (for a total of 14).

These bonuses will be effective on Sunday, September 7, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time.
My Take on the Mega Sharpedo Raid Day
Mega Sharpedo Raid Day is not the Raid Day you should spend too much time and money on. Especially if you already have a good Mega Gyarados. You can shiny hunt if you want, but not excessively.
Mega Sharpedo is a Water- and Dark-type Pokémon in Pokémon GO. Its maximum Combat Power (CP) stat is 3701 CP. This is the CP for a level 50 100% IV Mega Sharpedo. It has an attack stat of 289, a defense stat of 144, and a HP (stamina) stat of 172.
On the other hand, Mega Gyarados is a Water- and Dark-type Pokémon in Pokémon GO. Its maximum Combat Power (CP) stat is 5332 CP. This is the CP for a level 50 100% IV Mega Gyarados. It has an attack stat of 292, a defense stat of 247, and a HP (stamina) stat of 216.
So, the main reason why you will want to do a lot of Mega Sharpedo raids is either if you are shiny hunting Sharpedo, or need a replacement for Mega Gyarados. Also, if you have all the previously existing 45 Mega evolutions in Pokémon GO, having Mega Sharpedo will help you get the Platinum Badge for Mega Evolutions.
