As a pure Psychic-type Pokémon, Necrozma Recommended Counters are Pokémon with Bug-, Dark-, and Ghost-type attacks. The Pokémon with these attacks are your primary focus when assembling a raid team. Necrozma is returning to Pokémon GO raids in June 2026. Trainers have another opportunity to catch one of the most iconic Legendary Pokémon from the Alola region.

Necrozma is returning to raids from Wednesday, June 17, at 6:00 a.m. local time until Tuesday, June 23, at 9:00 p.m. local time. If you’re planning to farm Candy, hunt for a shiny, or simply add Necrozma to your collection, bringing the right counters will make all the difference.
Best Necrozma Recommended Counters
The best Pokémon with Bug-, Dark-, or Ghost-type attacks that you should use against Necrozma are as follows.
| Pokémon | Fast Attack | Charged attack |
|---|---|---|
| Dawn Wings Necrozma | Shadow Claw | Moongeist Beam |
| Mega Tyranitar | Bite | Brutal Swing |
| Mega Gengar | Lick | Shadow Ball |
| Mega Absol | Snarl | Brutal Swing |
| Shadow Darkrai | Snarl | Shadow Ball |
| Mega Mewtwo Y | Psycho Cut | Shadow Ball |
| Shadow Hydreigon | Bite | Brutal Swing |
| Shadow Tyranitar | Bite | Brutal Swing |
| Gholdengo | Hex | Shadow Ball |
| Mega Heracross | Fury Cutter | Megahorn |
You can add any six (6) to your Necrozma raid battle party. Ensure you switch to that when you join a Necrozma raid. Please note that you can only use one Mega Pokémon per battle.
If you are looking to get more Necrozma Candy, use a Mega Level 3 Psychic-type Pokémon (e.g., Mega Mewtwo, Mega Alakazam, Mega Slowbro, Mega Gardevoir, Mega Medicham, Mega Metagross, Mega Latias, Mega Latios, and Mega Malamar). However, using the Mega Psychic-type Pokémon (only Mega Mewtwo for Necrozma raids) means you will use the regular version of Tyranitar, Gengar, Absol, and Heracross.

Strong Non-Mega Budget Options as Necrozma Recommended Counters
If you don’t have access to Mega Evolutions or Shadows, you can still perform very well with:
- Tyranitar with Bite as a Fast Attack and Brutal Swing as a Charged Attack.
- Hydreigon with Bite as a Fast Attack and Brutal Swing as a Charged Attack.
- Darkrai with Snarl as a Fast Attack and Shadow Ball as a Charged Attack.
- Chandelure with Hex as a Fast Attack and Shadow Ball as a Charged Attack.
- Weavile with Snarl as a Fast Attack and Foul Play as a Charged Attack.
- Yveltal with Snarl as a Fast Attack and Dark Pulse as a Charged Attack.
A team built around these Pokémon can comfortably contribute meaningful damage in medium-to-large raid groups.
Raid Tips
Using the best counters is not enough. You also need a good strategy to win more raids. Do the following
- Mega Tyranitar is one of the best team-wide support options thanks to its Dark-type Mega boost.
- Coordinate with other Trainers so only one or two Mega Evolutions are active at a time for maximum team benefit.
- Prioritize Dark- and Ghost-type teams over Bug-types unless your Bug attackers are heavily powered up.
- Use Party Power whenever possible to significantly increase Charged Move damage.
- High-level duos are possible with optimized teams, while casual groups of three to five Trainers should have little difficulty defeating Necrozma with proper counters.
Hundo CP for Necroma from Raids
The hundo CP (i.e., the perfect CP) for Necrozma caught from raids depends on the in-game weather condition when it was caught. If caught during Windy weather conditions in-game, the hundo CP is 2630 CP. Otherwise, the hundo CP is 2104 CP. If any of these is Shiny, that’s a shundo.
Necrozma’s Best Moveset
If you get a good one or a hundo, you should teach it Psycho Cut as a Fast Attack and Future Sight as a Charged Attack.
Necrozma remains one of the more accessible Legendary raids when approached with the right counters. Mega Tyranitar, Dawn Wings Necrozma, Mega Gengar, Shadow Darkrai, and Shadow Hydreigon dominate the damage charts, while budget-friendly options like Tyranitar, Hydreigon, and Gholdengo still provide excellent performance.
Build a team of Necrozma Recommended Counters focused on Dark and Ghost damage, coordinate Mega boosts with your group, and you’ll have an excellent chance of defeating Necrozma quickly and adding a strong Legendary Pokémon to your collection.
