The Pokémon GO: Catch Mastery event is on Sunday, March 16, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. local time. This event features an Increased chance to catch Shiny Archen, Shiny Omanyte, and Shiny Kabuto.
Archen is the focus of the event. It will be available as an encounter after completing the event-themed Field Research Tasks. Omanyte and Kabuto will appear more frequently in the wild.
Pokémon GO: Catch Mastery Event Bonus
Trainers participating in the event will have access to the following bonuses
- Increased chance of encountering Shiny Archen, Shiny Omanyte, and Shiny Kabuto.
- 2x XP for catching Pokémon with Nice Throws or better.
- Additional 2x XP for catching Pokémon with Curveball Throws.

Pokémon GO: Catch Mastery event-themed Research
The following event-themed research will be available during the Pokémon GO: Catch Mastery event.
- Field Research Tasks will be available. It will focus on your Poké Ball-throwing accuracy. Completing the research will award Trainers with the following.
- Encounters with Archen.
- Free Timed Research Tasks will be available. It will focus on catching Rock-type Pokémon. Completing the research will award Trainers with the following.
- Encounters with Archen. If you complete 10 sets of the research, you will encounter 40 Archen in total.
- Paid Timed Research will be available for Trainers to purchase. For US$2.00 (or the equivalent pricing tier in your local currency), Trainers can play through a separate Special Research. Completing this research will award you with the following.
- 40 additional encounters with Archen
The paid timed research will be similar to the free timed research, so you can complete both at the same time.
Remember, the event is for a full 12 hours. You can now play casually and still enjoy it. However, you will need to be around (a lot) of PokéStops to be able to receive many Field Research Tasks.
