Pokémon GO Holiday Event

The Pokémon GO holiday event starts with part 1, on Tuesday, December 17, at 10:00 a.m. and continues until Sunday, December 22, 2024, at 9:59 a.m. local time. The event features Dedenne wearing a costumed Pokémon making its debut in Pokémon GO.

Lucky trainers can encounter a shiny Dedenne wearing holiday attire. Also, for the first time in Pokémon GO, trainers will be able to encounter Shiny Sandygast—if lucky.

Event Bonuses

During the event period, trainers will have access to the following bonuses

  • 2x XP from catching Pokémon
  • 1/2 Hatch Distance for Eggs placed in Incubators

Wild Encounters

The following Pokémon will appear more frequently in the wild.

  • Alolan Sandshrew
  • Alolan Diglett
  • Swinub
  • Delibird wearing a holiday ribbon
  • Numel
  • Snover
  • Darumaka
  • Litleo
  • Bergmite
  • Sandygast

Raids

The following Pokémon will appear in their respective raid tiers

  • Tier 1: Pikachu wearing a Winter Carnival outfit, Psyduck wearing holiday attire, Dedenne wearing holiday attire, and Sandygast
  • Tier 3: Stantler wearing a holiday outfit, Glaceon wearing an Undersea Holiday outfit, and Cryogonal
  • Mega Raids: Mega Latias and Mega Latios

Eggs

Trainers can also hatch 7km eggs to get the following Pokémon

  • Hisuian Growlithe
  • Pichu with Summer flair
  • Spheal wearing a holiday scarf
  • Cubchoo wearing a holiday ribbon
  • Amaura
  • Charcadet

Other event details

There will be event-themed Field Research tasks, Paid Time Research, Collection Challenges, and PokéStop Showcases that will reward trainers with Pokémon encounters, and items when either are completed.

  • Completing the Field Research tasks will reward encounters with event-themed Pokémon
  • Completing the Paid Research task will reward items such as premium battle passes, incubator, stardust, and encounters with event-themed Pokémon
  • Completing the Collection Challenges will reward a badge, stardust, Poké Balls, and Great Balls.
  • Winning PokéStop Showcases will reward different items, stardust, and XP.

The Pokémon GO holiday event is an event you should spend a few hours playing. I’ll recommend you focus solely on catching as many Pokémon as you can. With that, you accumulate more experience points (XP). Don’t worry about the raids and egg hatches. Those will require more time from you.
