Weekly Challenges Update
Matchmaking
As of Monday, January 19, 2026, at 4 p.m. PST, the Weekly Challenges feature now offers matchmaking. The matchmaking feature enables Trainers to join a weekly challenge group with people they are not friends with yet in the Pokémon GO game.
Matchmaking starts when a Trainer initiates a search by clicking on “Find a Group.” The feature searches for other Trainers and pools four (4) Trainers into a group. However, the weekly challenge starts when at least two (2) Trainers are in the group.
The aim of this is to help Trainers discover new friends to play with remotely.
Pokémon Encounter
Completing weekly challenges will now reward an encounter with Tandemaus, the Together Pokémon. The Pokémon encounter is an addition to the already existing rewards for completing a Weekly Challenge.
