Pokémon of the Month: Necrozma

The featured Pokémon of this month (July 2024) is Necrozma. Necrozma is the number 800 Pokémon in the Pokédex, which makes it an Alolan Pokémon. It is also an Ultra Beast (codenamed UB Black) who is a member of the Light trio along with Solgaleo and Lunala. It is popularly referred to as Prism Pokémon. Light is the source of its energy. If it isn’t devouring light, impurities build up in it and on it, and Necrozma darkens and stops moving.

Stats

Necrozma has a base HP of 97, a base attack of 107, and a base defense of 101. These stats make it NOT one of the most powerful Pokémon of its type (Psychic). It is currently ranked 24th on the list of best Psychic-type attackers in Pokémon GO. Shadow Mewtwo is currently ranked 1st.

Attacks

Necrozma, a Legendary Psychic-type Pokémon (currently) can learn either Psycho Cut, Shadow Claw, or Metal Claw as its Fast Attack. For its Charged Attacks, it can (currently) learn either Dark Pulse, Iron Head, Future Sight or Outrage.

For optimal productivity, its recommended best attacks are Shadow Claw as a Fast Attack, and Future Sight as it Charged Attack. You can also give it a secondary Charged Attack of Dark Pulse. Getting Necrozma a secondary Charged Attack requires 100 candy and 100,000 Stardust.

Combat Power (CP)

Necrozma has a max CP of 1578 at level 15, which you can get via Special Research Tasks. You can also get from Raids a max CP of 2104 at level 20 or 2630 at level 25 when Weather Boosted. It has a max CP of 3682 at level 40, and a max CP of 4163 at level 50. Necrozma is boosted by Windy weather.

Strength and Weakness

As a Psychic-type Pokémon, Necrozma is vulnerable to Bug-, Dark- and Ghost-type attacks. It is however resistant to Fighting-, and Psychic-type Pokémon.

Things to know about Necrozma, Dawn Wings Necrozma, and Dusk Mane Necrozma

Cost to fuse Necrozma with either Lunala or Solgaleo

It costs 1000 Solar or Lunar Fusion Energy, 30 Necrozma Candy, and 30 Cosmog Candy to fuse Necrozma into either Dawn Wings or Dusk Mane Necrozma. Dawn Wings requires Lunar Fusion Energy while Dusk Mane requires Solar Fusion Energy.

Can you have both forms and multiples?

You can currently have both forms in your Pokémon GO storage BUT not multiples of each. However, the limitation for getting both is how much Solar Fusion Energy you have to get Dusk Mane and how much Lunar Fusion Energy you have to get Dawn Wings. Likewise, you need Necrozma Candy and Cosmog Candy to be able to fuse either. Whichever fusion you get will remain the same until you defuse it back to Necrozma and either Lunala or Solgaleo.

You can get a Cosmog via a Free Special Research that would be available during Global GO Fest. Also, those who bought the Global GO Fest ticket will get access to catch either a Lunala or Solgaleo depending on the path chosen.

How to gain Fusion Energy

Currently in Pokémon GO, the only way to get Fusion Energy is through the items/rewards you get after defeating either Dawn Wings Necrozma or Dusk Mane Necrozma in raids during the second day of the Global Pokémon GO Fest 2024. Those who purchase the Global GO Fest ticket can also get access to either of the Fusion Energy depending on the path taken on the Event-themed Special Research Task. Some Raids and Special Researches will also reward Cosmog Candy.

Since it is not easy to get Fusion Energy, make sure you use the ones you get wisely. Only fuse the best Necrozma. Also, note that defeating either Dawn Wings or Dusk Mane Necrozma from raids gives you a Necrozma encounter.

What Pokémon is needed to get the Necrozma fusions?

You need Necrozma and either Lunala or Solgaleo. You can get either Lunala or Solgaleo by evolving Cosmog to either. You should not worry about the stats of your Cosmog. This is because when fused, Lunala or Solgaleo will inherit the stats (Level, IVs, and CP) and attacks (Fast and Charged) of your Necrozma. You have the two-day GO Fest to get yourself excellent stat Necrozmas from raids.

Necrozma “over-power” either Lunala or Solgaleo. What you get is a Dawn Wings or Dusk Mane with Necrozma’s stats and attacks. Likewise, if you fuse a shiny Necrozma with a non-shiny Lunala or Solgaleo, you will get a Shiny Dawn Wings or Shiny Dusk Mane Necrozma.
