Recommended Counters for Gigantamax Grimmsnarl Battles

Gigantamax Grimmsnarl will debut in Pokémon GO on Friday, November 9, 2025, during the Pokémon GO Wild Area: Nagasaki. It will then reappear during the Pokémon GO Wild Area: Global, starting on Saturday, November 15, 2025. Trainers will be to team up and take on this mischievous Pokémon in six-star Max Battles.

Gigantamax Grimmsnarl counters

Gigantamax Grimmsnarl is a Dark- and Fairy-type Pokémon. With its double-typing, it is weak to Pokémon with Fairy-, Poison-, and Steel-type moves. These makes it weak to the following Pokémon.

  • Other Pokémon that can be used in Max Battles: Crowned Shield Zamazenta (Fighting / Steel), Crowned Sword Zacian (Fairy / Steel), and Eternatus (Poison / Dragon)

As you can see, there are a lot of counters to choose from. However, you will shortly get to know which ones are the most recommended counters for Gigantamax Grimmsnarl.

On the other hand, some of the above counters will not cut it. This is because Gigantamax Grimmsnarl is resistant to Pokémon with Ghost-, Dark-, Dragon-, and Psychic-type moves.

Furthermore, Gigantamax Grimmsnarl can learn certain Dark-, Fighting-, and Fairy-type moves. This makes it a little tough to battle using some of the above-named Dynamax and Gigantamax counters.

Recommended Counters against Gigantamax Grimmsnarl

The following are the three Pokémon you should have in your Max Battle party against Gigantamax Grimmsnarl.

  • Defender: Level 50 Crowned Shield Zamazenta with Metal Claw as a Fast Attack and Behemoth Bash as a Charged Attack. In addition, you should either take its max attack to level 2 or use its Adventure Effect.
  • Defender: Level 50 Dynamax Excadrill with Metal Claw as a Fast Attack and Iron Head as a Charged Attack. In addition, you should take its max attack and max spirit to level 2
  • Attacker: Level 50 Crowned Sword Zacian with Metal Claw as a Fast Attack and Behemoth Blade as a Charged Attack. In addition, you should either take its max attack to level 2 or use its Adventure Effect.

Other important details

An perfect (or hundo) Gigantamax Grimmsnarl encountered after defeating it in Power Spots have 1628 CP. This will always be the CP for a hundo since Max Battles are not affected by in-game weather condition. As such, a level 50 hundo Gigantamax Grimmsnarl have 3222 CP. You will need 520,000 Stardust, 304 Impidimp Candy, and 296 Impidimp Candy XL to get a maxed out Gigantamax Grimmsnarl.

Apart from battling Gigantamax Grimmsnarl in Max Battles, Trainers can get non-Gigantamax Grimmsnarl by evolving Impidimp to Grimmsnarl. You will need 25 Impidimp Candy to get Morgrem, and 100 Impidimp Candy to evolve Morgrem into Grimmsnarl.

On a final note, you cannot solo Gigantamax Grimmsnarl battles. You will need team of 30 to 100 Trainers battling Gigantamax Grimmsnarl at the same time. If you use the recommended counters, you will be fine with 30 Trainers (if most of them also use the recommended counters). Otherwise, expect a minimum of 40 Trainers to be able to defeat Gigantamax Grimmsnarl.
