Shadow Groudon Raid Weekend

Shadow Groudon Raid Weekend features Shadow Groudon in Shadow Raids. Initially, Shadow Groudon was only obtainable by using a Super Rocket Radar to find and defeat the Team GO Rocket Boss – Giovanni. Now, Trainers can defeat Shadow Groudon in Raids and have the opportunity to catch it after completing raids.

Shiny Shadow Groudon

With Shadow Groudon’s debut in Shadow Raids, Trainers can now encounter Shiny Shadow Groudon if lucky.

Shadow Groudon will appear in five-star Shadow Raids from Saturday, September 20, 2025, at 6:00 a.m. to Sunday, September 21, 2025, at 10:00 p.m. local time.

Additionally, Trainers will receive one additional Raid Pass from spinning Photo Discs at Gyms each day during the event hours.

Shadow Groudon Raid Weekend Event Ticket

For US$4.99 (or the equivalent pricing tier in your local currency), you can purchase a ticket that grants the following bonuses.

  • Five additional Raid Passes per day from spinning Photo Discs at Gyms (for a daily total of seven)
  • 50% more XP from Raid Battles
  • 2× Stardust from Raid Battles

These bonuses will be effective from Saturday, September 20, at 6:00 a.m. to Sunday, September 21, 2025, at 10:00 p.m. local time.

Recommended Counters for Shadow Groudon

Shadow Groudon is a Ground-type Legendary Pokémon that is weak to Pokémon that have either Water-, Grass-, or Ice-type attacks. The following Pokémon are the best recommended counters you want to have in your battle team against Shadow Groudon.

  • Primal Kyogre with Waterfall as a Fast Attack and Origin Pulse as a Charged Attack
  • White Kyurem with Ice Fang as a Fast Attack and Ice Burn as a Charged Attack
  • Black Kyurem with Dragon Tail as a Fast Attack and Freeze Shock as a Charged Attack
  • Shadow Kyogre with Waterfall as a Fast Attack and Origin Pulse as a Charged Attack
  • Zarude with Vine Whip as a Fast Attack and Power Whip as a Charged Attack
  • Crowned Shield Zamazenta with Ice Fang as a Fast Attack and Behemoth Blade as a Charged Attack

Furthermore, the recommended Pokémon should be at level 35 if you want to be useful in raids. For reference, the maximum CP the recommended counters should have are as follows.

  • Primal Kyogre – 5902 CP
  • White Kyurem – 4605 CP
  • Black Kyurem – 4605 CP
  • Shadow Kyogre – 4115 CP
  • Zarude – 3833 CP
  • Crowned Shield Zamazenta – 4172 CP
