The Pokémon GO Sweet Discoveries event starts on Thursday, April 24, at 10:00 a.m. local time and ends on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at 8:00 p.m. local time. This event features the debut of a Pokémon first discovered in the Galar region – Applin and its evolutions, Flapple, and Appletun.
Please note that you can use 200 Applin Candy and 20 Tart Apples to evolve Applin into Flapple or 200 Applin Candy and 20 Sweet Apples to evolve Applin into Appletun.
What are Tart Apples and Sweet Apples in Pokémon GO?
Apples are new evolution items in Pokémon GO that can be discovered in the wild. However, they will not be generally available. Trainers will be able to find them based on chance i.e. you will find them in the wild if you are lucky. You can collect the Apples by tapping on them.
Tapping on Apples in the wild will award either Tart Apples, Sweet Apples, or encounters with a Pokémon – including Applin. Remember, finding Apples, and the rewards are based on chance.
In addition, Apples will have an increased chance of appearing at Mossy Lure Modules
Sweet Discoveries Event Bonuses
Trainers participating in the event will have access to the following bonuses from the start till the end of the event.
- 2× Candy for catching Pokémon.
- Increased chance to encounter Shiny Delibird and Shiny Skwovet.
- Increased chance to hatch Shiny Delibird, Shiny Cherubi, and Shiny Skwovet.
- Catching Delibird or Skwovet will award Berries (a first in Pokémon GO).
- Increased chance for apples to appear at Mossy Lure Modules.
- 1/2 Egg Hatch Distance for first three (3) Eggs hatched using the Pokémon GO Egg hatching widget.
Pokémon GO Sweet Discoveries Wild Encounters
The following Pokémon will appear more frequently in the wild
- Alolan Rattata
- Abra
- Bellsprout
- Delibird
- Gulpin
- Bidoof
- Munna
- Bounsweet
- Skwovet
- Snorlax, Shuckle, and Komala (but less frequently compared to the above wild encounters)
- Applin (when tapping on apples, if you are lucky)
All the Pokémon can be shiny.
Eggs
The following Pokémon will hatch from the 7 km Egg pool during the event.
- Delibird
- Cherubi
- Munchlax
- Skwovet

Event-themed Research
The following event-themed research will be available during the event.
- Field Research Tasks will be available. Completing the research tasks will award Stardust, and encounters with the event-themed Pokémon. The reward depends on the completed Field Research Task.
- Free Timed Research Tasks will be available. Completing the free Timed research tasks will award the following
- One (1) Mossy Lure Module
- One (1) Tart Apple
- One (1) Sweet Apple
- Encounters with event-themed Pokémon
- Paid Timed Research will be available for Trainers to purchase for US$1.99 (or the equivalent pricing tier in your local currency). Completing the paid timed research will award Trainers with the following.
- Two (2) Mossy Lure Modules
- Encounters with event-themed Pokémon including Skwovet, Applin, and more.
Also, as a reminder, there will be PokéStop Showcases available during the event. You can enter your largest event-themed Pokémon for a chance to win the Showcase and get the rewards.
