Dynamax Regirock will debut in Max Battles on Monday, April 20, 2026, at 6:00 a.m. local time. It will also be available during the Max Monday event on the same day, but from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. local time. Trainers will be able to battle Dynamax Regirock in Power Spots as five-star Max Battles. Likewise, it will be available in Power Spots until Sunday, April 26, 2026, 9:00 p.m. local time.

On this day,
- Power Spots will refresh more frequently.
- Additional Power Spots will be active compared to the rest of the week.
- Max Battles will rotate to feature different Dynamax Pokémon.
Best Dynamax Regirock Counters
Regirock is a Legendary Rock-type Pokémon that is weak against Pokémon with either Fighting-, Grass-, Ground-, Steel-, or Water-type attacks. There are a few Dynamax Pokémon that can learn these attacks. However, it is best to use the Gigantamax Pokémon that can learn these attacks as counters. Gigantamax Pokémon are your best counters against Dynamax Regirock.
Furthermore, Regirock can learn some attacks that are effective against either Ground-, Steel-, or Water-type Pokémon. It can learn the following.
- Rock Smash, a Fighting-type Fast Attack that is effective against Steel-type Pokémon
- Zap Cannon, an Electric-type Charged Attack that is effective against Water-type Pokémon
- Earthquake, a Ground-type Charged Attack that is effective against Steel-type Pokémon
- Focus Blast, a Fighting-type Charged Attack that is effective against Steel-type Pokémon
You should consider these when choosing your defending counters.
For an optimal strategy, you usually run two roles: (i) Two Defenders, Pokémon that can stay in the battle to build the Max meter and survive hits. (ii) One Attacker, the Pokémon you switch into during the Dynamax/Gigantamax phase to deal maximum damage. These are the three Pokémon you should have in your battle team based on their role.

- Zacian (Crowned Sword) with Metal Claw as a Fast Attack and Behemoth Blade as a Charged Attack
- Gigantamax Kingler with Mud Shot as a Fast Attack and Crabhammer as a Charged Attack
Simple Strategy That Works Well
- Start with a Defender
- Build the Max meter quickly by having a Fast Attack that charges the Charged Attack faster, by not using Charged Attacks, and by tapping on the Max Meter tool that shows up a few times during the battle.
- Switch to the Attacker during the Dynamax/ Gigantamax phase. Use the Charged Attacks here ONLY.
- Battle strategically with the other three Trainers.
Team Strategy
The four of you should have a good battle team. It is recommended that
- One Trainer: a battle team full of defenders.
- Use Max Guard during the Dynamax/Gigantamax phase
- One Trainer: a battle team of healers.
- Use Max Spirit during the Dynamax/Gigantamax phase
- Two Trainers: a battle team full of attackers
- Use Max Attack during the Dynamax/Gigantamax phase
Other Important things to note
- If this is your first time doing a Dynamax Battle, please check the previously posted Dynamax Battle tips to learn other strategies that can help you win.
- If your team of 4 (3 other trainers and you) finds it difficult to defeat Regirock in its Dynamax form, you can either choose to use Max Mushrooms or use Eternatus’ Dynamax Cannon Adventure Effect. Use either of these in addition to the best counters above.
- You can also choose to reroll* the Power Spot until you get a Dynamax Regirock with either Lock-On or Frost Breath as a Fast Attack and Blizzard or Thunder as its Charged Attack.
- If you encounter a DMax Regirock with 1784 CP after defeating it in Power Spot, that’s a hundo. If it is shiny, that’s a shundo!
*You reroll Power Spots by leaving the lobby completely, re-entering the battle lobby, and finding out what moves a Power Spot boss has.
