The Pokémon yet to make their Pokémon GO debut

Currently, we are in the 9th generation of Pokémon. The 9th generation features Pokémon from the Paldea region. This region is where we have Gimmighoul (PokéDex number 999) and its evolution Gholdengo (PokéDex number 1000). They are currently the only ones available in Pokémon GO from this region. This region is relatively new and we will get to that. However, there are still some Pokémon from the older generation that are yet to make their Pokémon GO debut.

The Pokémon yet to be released are from the following generations.

Generation IV: Sinnoh Region

Phione and its evolution, Manaphy are yet to be released in Pokémon GO. Likewise, Arceus who is from the Sinnoh region is yet to make its debut in Pokémon GO. As the usual custom, these Pokémon could be released during the next generation event like Kanto Tour, Johto Tour, and Hoenn Tour.

Phione has the PokéDex number 489, Manaphy 490, and Arceus 493.

Fun fact about some Pokémon from the Sinnoh Region.

  • Shellos and Gastrodon have two forms. This depends on which side of Sinnoh you find them on. The Western versions are pink while the Eastern versions are blue.
  • Lucario is the most loved Pokémon in Diamond & Pearl.
  • In Pokémon mythology, Arceus is the Pokémon world’s version of god and perhaps the creator of the Pokémon universe.

Generation VI: Kalos Region

This generation is one of the latest regions to be released in Pokémon GO. It is a relatively small-sized generation in comparison to the previous generations. Many of this small-sized generation have been released in Pokémon GO but we are still missing a few. They are as follows:

  • Skiddo (PokéDex number 672) and its evolution, Gogoat (PokéDex number 673).
  • Honedge (PokéDex number 679) and its evolutions, Doublade (PokéDex number 680), and Aegislash (PokéDex number 681).
  • Carbink (PokéDex number 703).
  • Zygarde (PokéDex number 718).
  • Diancie (PokéDex number 719).
  • Volcanion (PokéDex number 721).

Fun fact about the Kalos Region.

  • The Pokémon in this region have a strong theme of beauty, fashion, balance, and harmony. Think Sylveon, Florges, Delphox, Vivillon, Gourgeist. In fact all of them.
  • Kalos is the first generation that introduced Fairy-type Pokémon.
  • The most currently popular Pokémon is from this generation — Greninja.

Generation VII: Alola Region

Just like the Kalos region, the Alola region is pretty new in Pokémon GO. Likewise, it has a small-sized population of Pokémon. 65 of the 88 Pokémon have been released in Pokémon GO. This leaves out the following 23:

  • Wishiwashi (PokéDex number 746).
  • Mudbray (PokéDex number 749) and its evolution, Mudsdale (PokéDex number 750).
  • Passimian (PokéDex number 766).
  • Sandygast (PokéDex number 769) and its evolution, Palossand (PokéDex number 770).
  • Pyukumuku (PokéDex number 771).
  • Typenull (PokéDex number 772) and its evolution, Silvally (PokéDex number 773).
  • Minior (PokéDex number 774).
  • Komala (PokéDex number 775).
  • Turtonator (PokéDex number 776).
  • Mimikyu (PokéDex number 778).
  • Drampa (PokéDex number 780).
  • Dhelmise (PokéDex number 781).
  • Necrozma (PokéDex number 800).
  • Magearna (PokéDex number 801).
  • Marshadow (PokéDex number 802).
  • Poipole (PokéDex number 803) and its evolution Naganadel (PokéDex number 804).
  • Stakataka (PokéDex number 805).
  • Blacephalon (PokéDex number 806).
  • Zeraora (PokéDex number 807).

Fun fact about the Alola Region.

  • Meltan (PokéDex number 808) and its evolution Melmetal (PokéDex number 809) are from this region even though they are classified under the “Uknown” in Pokémon GO.
  • Salandit whose female can only evolve into Salazzle could be a nod to the Hawaiian mythic creature mo’o which are depicted as female lizards with black scales.
  • Speaking of Hawaii, this region is Hawaii-inspired. Think Alolan Exeggutor, Comfey (which can only be found in Hawaii).

Generation VIII: Galar and Hisui Region

This generation features 96 Pokémon but only 19 have made their Pokémon GO debut. The remaining 77 Pokémon will probably be randomly released during upcoming events in Pokémon GO. In another sense, they might be delayed so that the missing Pokémon from the previous generation be released in Pokémon GO first. Whichever way, we will get them when they debut in Pokémon GO. Therefore, we do not need to really worry about them and their names if we only play Pokémon GO (out of all other Pokémon games) like I do.

These unreleased Pokémon are with the PokéDex numbers 810 – 818, 821 – 830, 833 – 861, 864, 868, 869, 871 – 887, 890 – 892, 896 – 899, 902 and 905.

Generation IX: Paldea Region

The relatively new generation began in 2022. It is an Iberian-inspired (Southern Europe-inspired) region that features lots of new Pokémon species to discover. The starter Pokémon are Sprigatito, Fuecoco, and Quaxly. They are part of the 105 Pokémon that make up the 9th generation with PokéDex numbers 906 – 1010. Two Pokémon from this region have made their debut in Pokémon GO leaving out 103 new ones yet to be discovered in Pokémon GO.

There is still a long way to go before we come to the fun realization of this region in Pokémon GO. In the meantime, we can enjoy the pocket monsters we already have in Pokémon GO.
