Top Tips & Tricks for Ponyta Community Day

The September 2024 Pokémon GO Community Day featuring Ponyta, the Fire Horse Pokémon and Galarian Ponyta, the Unique Horn Pokémon, is on Saturday, September 14, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time. The event features Ponyta and Galarian Ponyta appearing more than usual in the wild. Likewise, their shiny variant will be boosted with odds of 1 in 25.

Legacy Attack/Move

During the event (and up till 5 hours after the event), you can fully evolve Ponyta or Galarian Ponyta into Rapidash or Galarian Rapidash to get any that knows Wild Charge as a Charged Attack/Move. Wild Charge is an Electric-type Charged Attack that deals 100 damage in Trainer Battles (PVP) and 90 damage in Gyms and raids (PVE).

You will need 50 Ponyta Candy to evolve Ponyta or Galarian Ponyta into Rapidash or Galarian Rapidash.

100% IV Ponyta or Galarian Ponyta

There are many possibilities to encounter a 100% IV Ponyta or Galarian Ponyta in the wild. You will need to know all the maximum CP for all the different Ponyta or Galarian Ponyta power-up levels. This varies for boosted weather and non-boosted weather Ponyta or Galarian Ponyta. You will need to catch as many as you can. The maximum CP a Ponyta or Galarian Ponyta can have during a boosted weather condition (i.e. Sunny for Ponyta, Windy for Galarian Ponyta) is 1578 CP at level 35. This would be 1455 CP at level 30 in non-boosted weather conditions. These should be guaranteed hundo (i.e. 100% IV Ponyta or Galarian Ponyta).

Likewise, it is easier to know the CP of a 100% IV Ponyta or Galarian Ponyta encountered via completing Field or Special Research. The CP of a 100% IV Ponyta or Galarian Ponyta from field or special research is 727 CP and a power-up level of 15.

Perfect PVP IVs Ponyta or Galarian Ponyta

If you are looking for a Rapidash or Galarian Rapidash you can use in the GO Battle League, you should be on the lookout for the following Individual Values (IVs).

To know which Ponyta or Galarian Ponyta can potentially be used in the GO Battle League while you are playing the Ponyta and Galarian Ponyta Community Day, you should know the Pokémon GO search strings to mass transfer what you do not need except those with PVP IVs

  • For the Great League, you need a Ponyta or Galarian Ponyta with 0-13-15 (attack-defense-hp) values. This is a rank 1 Rapidash or Galarian Rapidash (among 4096 possible Ponyta or Galarian Ponyta encounters) that you should evolve during the event for the exclusive attack.
  • For the Ultra League, you need a Ponyta or Galarian Ponyta with 0-15-14 (attack-defense-hp) values. This is a rank 1 Rapidash or Galarian Rapidash (among 4096 possible Ponyta or Galarian Ponyta encounters) that you should evolve during the event for the exclusive attack
  • For the Master League, you need a Ponyta or Galarian Ponyta with 15-15-15 (attack-defense-hp) values. This is a Ponyta or Galarian Ponyta (among 4096 possible Ponyta or Galarian Ponyta encounters) that you should evolve during the event. This is a 100% Ponyta or Galarian Ponyta IVs.

Currently, you don’t need Rapidash or Galarian Rapidash for the Great League. There are better Fire-, or Psychic, and Fairy-type Pokémon that you can use instead of Rapidash or Galarian Rapidash respectively. However, you need one of each for the Ultra League.

  • Incense (excluding Daily Adventure Incense) activated during the event will last for three hours.
  • Take five snapshots during Community Day for encounters with Ponyta or Galarian Ponyta.

Stardust Gain

One of the event’s bonuses is 3x Stardust for catching Pokémon. You can gain up to 500,000 Stardust or more if you catch as many as you can while using Star Piece for the entire duration of the event. This is because catch Stardust is a minimum of 150 Stardust. With 3x Catch Stardust, you get 450 Stardust per catch. If you catch 100 Ponyta or Galarian Ponyta, that’s 450,000 Stardust.

Candy Gain

You can also gain a lot of candy if you catch as many as you can since one of the event’s bonuses is 2x candy for catching Pokémon. Also, make sure you use a max-level mega Pokémon for the entire duration of the Ponyta or Galarian Ponyta Community Day Classic. The best Pokémon to mega-evolve is any Fire or Psychic-type Pokémon that can be mega-evolved (or as a Primal). The best one I would recommend is a Mega (level 3) Primal Groudon or Mega Rayquaza. Others you can mega evolve are either a Mega Charizard X or Y, Mega Slowbro, Mega Houndoom, Mega Alakazam, Mega Medicham, Mega Blaziken, Mega Latios, Mega Latias, or Mega Gardevoir. In addition to using a Mega Pokémon, you should also use Pinap (or Silver) Berries while catching.

Platinum Medals

These are the platinum medals you should work on.

  • Fire-type and Psychic-type medal: catch a lot of Ponyta or Galarian Ponyta to increase your count toward 2500 Fire-type and Psychich-type Pokémon caught.
  • Cameraman medal: snap your Buddy 5 times to increase your count towards 400 Snapshots.
  • Pokémon Ranger: Try and a lot of Field Research as possible to increase your count towards the platinum requirement
  • Picknicker: drop Lure Modules (especially Rainy Lure Module) on PokéStops to increase your count towards 2500 Pokémon caught by other trainers from your Lure Module.
  • Showcase Star: drop your largest Ponyta or Galarian Ponyta or Rapidash or Galarian Rapidash in PokéStop Showcases for the chance to win and increase your count towards 100 Showcase wins.
  • Tiny Pokémon and Jumbo Pokémon Collector: you can’t control what size of Ponyta or Galarian Ponyta you get during the Community Day. However, you can control the increase in the count of these medals. You need 500 of each to get a Platinum medal. If you catch one XXS or XXL Ponyta or Galarian Ponyta and fully evolve it into Rapidash or Galarian Rapidash, that increases your count by 2.

Field Research Tasks

Field research tasks awarding additional encounters with Ponyta or Galarian Ponyta, or 500 Stardust or 5 Great Balls or 2 Ultra Balls, or 2 Pinap Berries will be available between 2:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. local time. The research task is as follows;

  • Catch 3 Ponyta or Galarian Ponyta.

If you get a (Shiny) Ponyta or (Shiny) Galarian Ponyta with 727 CP, that’s a (s)hundo!

PokéStop Showcases

There will be PokéStop showcases featuring Ponyta or Galarian Ponyta and Rapidash or Galarian Rapidash. Make sure you enter your largest Ponyta or Galarian Ponyta and Rapidash or Galarian Rapidash to increase your chances of getting some rewards when the showcase ends on Sunday, September 15, 2024, at 8:00 p.m. local time. Also, each showcase win counts towards the Showcase Star medal that awards an encounter with Phd Pikachu.

Finally, make sure you catch ’em all. This is the basic requirement to get anything good from this event. If you want something great, then you’ve got to put in extra effort on the tips and tricks you just read
