The Pokémon GO Totodile Community Day Classic is scheduled for Saturday, March 22, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time. Trainers around the world will be able to encounter Totodile, the Big Jaw Pokémon more frequently in the wild. Also, Trainers can find a Shiny Totodile in every 25 encounters, if lucky.
Totodile Community Day Classic Featured Attack
Trainers can evolve Croconaw (Totodile’s evolution) during the event and/or up to a week afterward (i.e. March 29, 2025, at 10 p.m. local time) to get a Feraligatr that knows the Charged Attack Hydro Cannon. Hydro Cannon is a Water-type attack/move with 80 power in Trainer Battles (PVP) and 90 power in Gyms and raids (PVE) respectively.
Community Day Special Research
For US$2.00 (or the equivalent pricing tier in your local currency), you’ll be able to access the Totodile exclusive Special Research. Completing the research will grant you more rewards. These include a Premium Battle Pass, a Rare Candy XL, additional encounters with Totodile, and three encounters with Totodile that have a Seasonal Special Background.
Community Day Special Background Timed Research
Furthermore, Trainers will have access to a Community Day Classic Special Background Timed Research that lasts for a week following the event. The Timed Research rewards additional encounters with Totodile that has a Seasonal Special Background. Plus, you can evolve Croconaw (Totodile’s Evolution) during the week following the event to get a Feraligatr that knows the Charged Attack Hydro Cannon! Totodile encounters via this special research have an increased chance to be a Shiny Totodile.
Community Day Classic Field Research
Event-themed Field Research will be available which will focus on catching Totodile. Completing the research will reward Trainers with additional encounters with Totodile, Stardust, Great Balls, and more. Also, some of the research will lead to encounters with a Totodile that have a Seasonal Special Background, if you’re lucky.
Totodile Community Day Classic Tips
The tips will be based on the event-themed bonuses.
- 1/4 Hatch Distance when Eggs are placed into Incubators during the event.
- This is an opportunity to gain more Stardust. To maximize your Stardust gains, try and fill your 12 Egg slots with either 10km Eggs or 12 km Eggs before this event. You can then buy an Incubator pack, wait for the event to start, and then incubate all the 12 Eggs. Keep hatching 9 Eggs per batch till the end of the event.
- Incense (excluding Daily Adventure Incense) activated during the event will last for three hours.
- You do not need to use Incense since there will be a lot of Totodile spawns. However, you need to do this if you are playing in an area where you have experienced low spawns in the past. Also, you will need to be walking for the Incense to be effective.
- Lure Modules activated during the event will last for three hours.
- Using Lure Modules helps other Trainers to catch Pokémon. This contributes to your Picknicker medal.
- Take a few snapshots during the Community Day Classic for a surprise!
- You can take an additional four (4) Buddy Snapshots making a total of five (5). This counts toward your Cameranman medal.
Other tips (not part of the event bonuses) are as follows
- Use a Pinap Berry for every Pokémon you hand-catch (using the quick catch method) during the Community Day Classic. You should also use a Ninatic recommended auto-catcher if you have one. In addition, use Palkia’s Spacial Rend Adventure Effect to be able to see and catch more Totodiles.
- Use a Mega Evolved Water-type Pokémon during the event. Using a Mega Evolved Pokémon grants you extra Candy per catch. It is recommended that you use a Level 3 Mega Evolved Pokémon. This can be either Mega Swampert, Mega Gyarados, Mega Slowbro, Mega Blastoise, or Primal Kyogre.
- There will also be PokéStop Showcases during the Totodile Community Day Classic. Try and put your largest Totodile or Feraligatr in these Showcases. Winning PokéStop Showcases earns you points towards the Showcase Star medal. You can also get in-game items and resources if you end up high in the showcase rankings.
- If you have Shadow Totodile whose Charged Attack Frustration has been removed, now is the time to evolve them into Feraligatr. Do NOT evolve those that still have Frustration as a Charged Attack. They won’t learn the Charged Attack Hydro Cannon.
- Other platinum medals you can work on during this event are as follows.
- Swimmer – Catch a lot of Totodile to increase this medal count.
- Pokémon Ranger – Complete a lot of Field Research tasks during the event. They would be much easier to complete quickly during the event.
- Life of the Party – Party up with friends and complete Party tasks.
- Community Member – Join and ensure you check in to a Community Ambassador-hosted meetup.
Please note, as this is a Community Day Classic, the event ends at 5:00 p.m. local time. Also, there is NO one additional special trade, and trades will NOT require 50% less Stardust.
Perfect IV Totodile
There are many possibilities to find a perfect IV Totodile in the wild. However, you will need to memorize all the possible Combat Power (CP), which is not possible. What is possible is that you look out for the highest possible CP during a non-weather boosted and a weather boosted condition.
During a non-weather boosted condition, the highest possible CP for a perfect IV Totodile (at level 30) is 970 CP. During a weather-boosted condition, the highest possible CP for a perfect IV Totodile (at level 35) is 1051 CP. These are the CPs you will see if your Trainer level is 31 and above. Totodile is boosted in Rainy weather in-game.
Finally, Totodile caught after completing a Field Research Task can be a perfect IV Totodile. The CP for a perfect IV Totodile (at level 15) from Field Research is 485 CP. If you find Totodile evolution in Field Research, their perfect IV is either 738 CP for Croconaw or 1224 CP for Feraligatr.
Perfect IV Totodile for GO Battle League
- Great League: You need a Totodile with 0-11-13 IV that you can evolve into Feraligatr. This would give you a Feraligatr that you can power up to 1499 CP.
- Ultra League: You need a Totodile with 1-15-14 IV that you can evolve into Feraligatr. This would give you a Feraligatr that you can power up to 2497 CP.
It is important to know that the best movesets for Feraligatr in either GO Battle League are Shadow Claw as a Fast Attack; Hydro Cannon and Ice Beam as Charged Attacks.
Most importantly, do not play the Community Day Classic alone. This is why it is called a “Community Day”. You can find other Trainers in your area to trade, battle, or join raids with via the Campfire App. I recommend that you join only the events hosted by a Community Ambassador. Joining a Community Ambassador event and checking it at the location of the event will grant you free Timed Research.
