5 Ways to Use Rare Candy in Pokémon GO

In Pokémon GO, Rare Candy is a mysterious candy that when used on a Pokémon, turns into the Pokémon’s candy. It is not only mysterious but also rare – hence the name “Rare” Candy. Trainers are always economical when it comes to using Rare Candy. I’m sure you have asked yourself many times what Pokémon to use the candy on.

This post was written with you in mind and it presents a list of things to do with the Rare Candy.

Recommended Use of Pokémon GO’s Rare Candy

In no particular order, here are the recommended usage of Rare Candy in Pokémon GO.

  • Shadow Mewtwo (or Mewtwo in general). Mewtwo is the number-one attacker in the game. You can use the Rare Candy to get a second Charged Attack and also power it up for raids. However, you will want to use it on your best Mewtwo, preferably any above 90% IV (individual value). If you don’t have a good one, you can as well give it to your current Mewtwo. Don’t give a second attack or power it up. Wait for a better one
  • Shadow legendaries e.g., Shadow Zapdos, Shadow Moltres, Shadow Articuno, Shadow Lugia, and Shadow Ho-oh
  • Mythical Pokémon from Special Research Tasks e.g. Zarude, Sky-forme Shaymin, Hoopa Unbound, Keldeo. Currently, you can’t catch these Pokémon in the wild so as to get more candy to power them up. Therefore you can use your Rare Candy. Do not worry about their IVs. They are good just the way they are.
  • Perfect Legendary, Mythical, or Ultrabeats Pokémon. Having a perfect (100% IV) Pokémon is good but powering them up and giving them a second move makes them great. I would recommend you do this. I take this as my number one priority whenever I get any Rare Candy.
  • Any other strong Pokémon for PVP (versus other players e.g., GO Battle League) or PVE (raids and grunts)
  • DO NOT USE THEM ON REGULAR POKÉMON

Please note, these are the best recommendations you could get but they are just ideas on what to do. You have the choice of which one(s) to apply.
