Dynamax Registeel will debut in Max Battles on Monday, May 18, 2026, at 6:00 a.m. local time. It will be available during the Max Monday event on the same day, from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. local time. Trainers will be able to battle Dynamax Registeel in Power Spots as five-star Max Battles. Likewise, it will be available in Power Spots until Sunday, May 24, 2026, 9:00 p.m. local time.

- Power Spots will refresh more frequently.
- Additional Power Spots will be active compared to the rest of the week.
- Max Battles will rotate to feature different Dynamax Pokémon.
Best Dynamax Registeel Counters
Registeel is a Legendary Steel-type Pokémon that is weak against Pokémon with either Fighting-, Fire-, or Ground-type attacks. There are a few Dynamax Pokémon that can learn these attacks. However, it is best to use the Gigantamax Pokémon that can learn these attacks as counters. Gigantamax Pokémon are your best counters against Dynamax Registeel.
Furthermore, Registeel is more of a defense-weighted Legendary Pokémon. This means you really need to use Gigantamax Pokémon that can deal super-effective damage to Registeel. You should consider these when choosing your defending counters.
For an optimal strategy, you usually run two roles: (i) Two Defenders, Pokémon that can stay in the battle to build the Max meter and survive hits. (ii) One Attacker, the Pokémon you switch into during the Dynamax/Gigantamax phase to deal maximum damage. These are the three Pokémon you should have in your battle team based on their role.

Please note that a Gigantamax Pokémon’s attack used in the Gigantamaxing phase is dependent on the Pokémon’s type. Furthermore, a Dynamax Pokémon’s attack used in the Dynamaxing phase is dependent on the Pokémon’s Fast-Attack type.

- Zacian (Crowned Sword) with Metal Claw as a Fast Attack and Behemoth Blade as a Charged Attack

- Dynamax Vaporeon with Water Gun as a Fast Attack and Hydro Pump as a Charged Attack
- Gigantamax Lapras with Water Gun as a Fast Attack and Any Water-type Charged Attack
- Dynamax Latios with Dragon Breath as a Fast Attack and Any Water-type Charged Attack
- Dynamax Lugia with Dragon Tail as a Fast Attack and Any Flying-type Charged Attack
- Dynamax Registeel with Lock on as a Fast Attack and Focus Blast as a Charged Attack
- Attackers
- Gigantamax Charizard with Fire Spin as a Fast Attack and Any Fire-type Charged Attack
- Dynamax Darmanitan with Incinerate as a Fast Attack and Any Fire-type Charged Attack

Simple Strategy That Works Well
- Start with a Defender
- Build the Max meter quickly by having a Fast Attack that charges the Charged Attack faster, by not using Charged Attacks, and by tapping on the Max Meter tool that shows up a few times during the battle.
- During the first Dynamax/ Gigantamax phase, use Max Spirit on your ‘healer’ to heal your Pokémon and your teammates’ Pokémon.
- Build up the Max meter again.
- Switch to the Attacker during the second Dynamax/ Gigantamax phase. Use the Charged Attacks here ONLY.
- Battle strategically with the other three Trainers.
- If all your Pokémon faint before the end of the battle, make sure you keep tapping the ‘cheer’ button to help your teammates complete the battle
Team Strategy
The four of you should have a good battle team. It is recommended that
- One Trainer: a battle team full of defenders.
- Use Max Guard during the Dynamax/Gigantamax phase
- One Trainer: a battle team of healers.
- Use Max Spirit during the Dynamax/Gigantamax phase
- Two Trainers: a battle team full of attackers
- Use Max Attack during the Dynamax/Gigantamax phase
Other Important things to note
- If this is your first time doing a Dynamax Battle, please check the previously posted Dynamax Battle tips to learn other strategies that can help you win.
- If your team of 4 (3 other trainers and you) finds it difficult to defeat Registeel in its Dynamax form, you can either choose to use Max Mushrooms or use Eternatus’ Dynamax Cannon Adventure Effect. Use either of these in addition to the best counters above.
- You can also choose to reroll* the Power Spot until you get a Dynamax Registeel with either Lock-On or Frost Breath as a Fast Attack and Blizzard or Thunder as its Charged Attack.
- If you encounter a DMax Registeel with 1398 CP after defeating it in Power Spot, that’s a hundo. If it is shiny, that’s a shundo!
*You reroll Power Spots by leaving the lobby completely, re-entering the battle lobby, and finding out what moves a Power Spot boss has.
