The Deino Community Day Classic will feature the Irate Pokémon appearing more frequently in the wild, in some Field Research tasks, and as encounters after completing some of the event-themed Special Research tasks.
May 2026 Community Day Classic: Deino
The May 2026 Community Day Classic is scheduled on Saturday, May 16, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time.
Deino, the featured Pokémon during the May 2026 Community Day Classic, will appear more frequently in the wild. In addition, if you’re lucky, you might encounter a (Shiny) Deino that has a Special Background. Please note that the Special Background is a yearly Special Background similar to those from the previous 2026 Community Day events.
Featured Attack and Attack Availability
You can evolve (Shiny) Deino to its final Evolution and get a (Shiny) Hydreigon that knows the Charged Attack Brutal Swing.
Brutal Swing is a Dark-type Charged Attack that deals 65 damage in Gym and Raid battles while costing 33 energy. In Trainer Battles, Brutal Swing deals 55 damage while costing 35 energy. Brutal Swing is super-effective against Ghost- and Psychic-type Pokémon.
(Shiny) Hydreigon can learn Brutal Swing via evolution during the event and up to 9:00 p.m. local time on Saturday, May 16, 2026. After this time, (Shiny) Hydreigon will be able to learn Brutal Swing by using an Elite Charged TM.
Hundo (Shiny) Deino from Research
Field and Special Research will be available during the May 2026 Community Day Classic. A Deino with 455 CP from a Research encounter is a hundo. If shiny, that is a Shundo. Likewise, a Zweilous with 788 CP from a Research encounter is a hundo. If shiny, that is a Shundo. A Hydreigon with 1553 CP from a Research encounter is a hundo. If shiny, that is a Shundo.
The following research tasks will reward Deino as an encounter when completed.

The following are the most essential tips to make the best out of this Community day classic.
- Mega evolved a Mega Level 3 Dark-type Pokémon: This helps you get additional Candy, Candy XL, and XP when you catch Deino. Examples are Mega Houndoom, Mega Tyranitar, Mega Sharpedo, Mega Sableye, Mega Absol, or Mega Malamar.
- Use Palkia’s Spacial Rend Adventure Effect: This increases your Pokémon spawn catch radius. Helping you see more Deino spawns.

Shiny Deino Event Bonuses
The following bonuses will be available from the start of the event at 2:00 p.m. local time to either 5:00 p.m. or 9:00 p.m. local time.
2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time bonuses
- 3x XP for catching Pokémon.
- Incense (excluding Daily Adventure Incense) activated during the event will last for three hours.
- Take a few snapshots during Community Day Classic for a surprise!
- Lure Modules will last for one hour and may attract the featured Pokémon.
Extended bonuses until 9:00 p.m. local time
- Lure Modules will last for one hour and may attract the featured Pokémon.
Please note that Deino will have a very high chance of appearing at PokéStops with active regular Lure Modules. Deino attracted to regular Lure Modules will still have an increased chance to be Shiny and may have a Special Background.

You can also search Niantic’s Campfire and find other meetups in your area. Please be really careful about which meetups you join.
- Community Ambassador Check-ins. Attend a meetup hosted by a Community Ambassador. Check into a Community Ambassador event to get Timed Research that leads to additional encounters with Deino with a Special Background, as well as other premium item rewards.
