Pokémon GO Wild Area is returning for 2025!

This year, the focus is on a tale of light and shadow. The event features mischievous Dark-type and enchanting Fairy-type Pokémon. Pokémon GO Wild Area is an event based on Dark-type and Fairy-type Pokémon.

The Pokémon GO Wild Area: Global will be available in-game for two days only! The days are November 15 and 16, 2025. The event will run both days from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. local time.

Trainers are invited to test their skills as they explore and search for Dark- and Fairy-type Pokémon featured during the event.

Pokémon GO Wild Area 2025 Event-themed Bonuses

The following will be available for all Trainers participating in the Pokémon GO Wild Area 2025.

  • Up to three free Raid Passes per day by spinning Photo Discs at Gyms.
  • Daily Max Particle collection limit increased to 1,600.
  • Three GO Snapshot surprise event encounters per day—when taking snapshots during the event, you never know who might show up

These bonuses will be active between 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. each day of the event.

Event Highlights

Mighty Pokémon

These are Pokémon that are more likely to have high Attack, Defense, and HP stats. They are also more likely to be XL or XXL. However, their stats and size make them more difficult to catch! These unusually powerful Pokémon will appear in the wild during the event.

New Pokémon Debuts

Impidimp, the Wily Pokémon, and its Evolutions, Morgrem and Grimmsnarl will make their debut during the Pokémon GO Wild Area 2025 in-person event in Nagasaki, Japan. They’ll return during the global event! However, Gigantamax Grimmsnarl will make its debut during the Global Pokémon GO Wild Area event.

You can use 25 Impidimp Candy to evolve Impidimp into Morgrem and 100 Impidimp Candy to evolve Morgrem into Grimmsnarl.

Furthermore, Unown W, Hatenna, and Impidimp will be making their Shiny debuts in Pokémon GO.

Shadow Raids

Shadow Darkrai and Shadow Cresselia will be available in Shadow Raids. Trainers can battle these raids to encounter Shadow Darkrai and Shadow Cresselia at different Gyms.

On Saturday, November 15, 2025, Shadow Cresselia will appear in Shadow Raids. On Sunday, November 16, 2025, Shadow Darkrai will appear in Shadow Raids.

You can encounter Shiny Shadow Cresselia and Shiny Shadow Darkrai—if you’re lucky!

Please note that this is the first time Shadow Darkrai will be available in Pokémon GO. Likewise, Shadow Cresselia, but in Shadow Raids. Shadow Cresselia made its debut in Pokémon and could only be obtained by defeating Giovanni.

Ticket Holder Bonuses

The Pokémon GO Wild Area 2025 is a free event. All Trainers will benefit from all the event-themed bonuses.

However, Trainers can enhance their experience with exclusive Special Research, additional bonuses, and an increased chance of encountering Shiny Pokémon. With the exclusive Special Research story, Trainers choose to become an expert in either Dark- or Fairy-type Pokémon.

  • Trainers who choose the Dark-type path will receive the following bonuses upon earning the Dark Detective medal.
    • 1 additional Candy XL awarded for catching Dark-type mighty Pokémon (Trainers level 31+)
    • Additional 1,000 Stardust for catching Dark-type mighty Pokémon
  • Trainers who choose the Fairy-type path will receive the following bonuses upon earning the Fairy Fanatic medal.
    • 1 additional Candy XL awarded for catching Fairy-type mighty Pokémon (Trainers level 31+)
    • Additional 1,000 Stardust for catching Fairy-type mighty Pokémon

Other Ticket Holder Bonuses include the following

  • An encounter with Grimmsnarl
  • A new avatar pose. The Poké Ball your new avatar holds will match the Poké Ball that your Buddy Pokémon is in!
  • Six free Raid Passes per day from spinning Photo Discs at Gyms
  • Increased chance of encountering Shiny Pokémon.
  • 3,200 Daily Max Particle collection limit
  • Increased Max Particle collection from Power Spots and exploration
  • 3/4 Max Particle cost for unlocking and powering up Max Moves

  • 1/2 Hatch Distance for Eggs placed in Incubators during the event.
  • Increased chance of event 5 km Eggs from spinning PokéStops and Photo Discs at Gyms
  • Lure Modules activated will last for two hours
  • Six GO Snapshot surprise event encounters per day when taking snapshots during the event
  • Up to six Special Trades per day.
  • 1/2 Stardust cost for trades.
  • A Supply Balloon giving GO Safari Balls will appear hourly during event hours.

Additionally, trainers who purchase their Pokémon GO Wild Area: Global ticket on the Pokémon GO Web Store will receive a special avatar item—the Flower Crown!

Routes

Trainers who explore Routes during Pokémon GO Wild Area: Global will encounter Pokémon more frequently and earn additional Buddy Candy!

Special Background

Trainers who participate in raids and Max Battles during Pokémon GO Wild Area: Global will have a chance of receiving a new Special Background after making a successful catch.

During the event, Shadow Cresselia, Shadow Darkrai, Bewear wearing a wilderness cape, and Gigantamax Grimmsnarl all have a chance to have this exclusive Special Background!

The following Pokémon will be featured in their respective raid and Max Battlestiers.

  • One-Star Raids:

  • Six-Star Max Battles: Gigantamax Grimmsnarl

Featured Pokémon in the Wild

The event-featured Pokémon will appear during two rotating hours as follows.

  1. Lurking Dark Hour: 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., 12 noon to 1:00 p.m., 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., and 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. – 22 different Dark-type Pokémon and Impidimp.
  2. Fanciful Fairy Hour: 11:00 a.m. to 12 noon, 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., and 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. – 22 different Fairy-type Pokémon and Impidimp.

Please note that different Mighty Pokémon may also appear in the wild each day of the event. If they do, their spawn time is very short. This means you need to catch them as quickly as possible. You can use the event-exclusive GO Safari Ball to capture these Pokémon. The GO Safari Ball greatly improve your chances of catching these Mighty Pokémon.

On Saturday, November 15, 2025, 9 different types of Dark- and Fairy-type Mighty Pokémon may appear in the wild. On Sunday, November 16, 2025, another 9 different types of Dark- and Fairy-type Mighty Pokémon may appear in the wild.

Featured Pokémon in Eggs

The following Pokémon will be hatching from Eggs received during the event.

  • 2 km Eggs:
  • 5 km Eggs: Mime Jr., Sandile, Pawniard, Carbink, Impidimp, and Tinkatink
  • 7 km Eggs:
  • 10 km Eggs:

Incense Encounters

Mighty Pokémon such as Alolan Ninetales, Galarian Rapidash, Tyranitar, Mawile, Absol, Garchomp, Drapion, Weavile, Hatterene, and Meowscarada will be attracted to Incense (excluding Daily Adventure Incense). These Pokémon will be during both event days.

Ticket holding Trainers will have additional incense encounters such as Unown W, Unown I, Unown L, and Unown D.

Some Trainers might encounter Uxie, Mesprit, and Azelf in the wild but at different region where they can be found.

The following Pokémon will know their featured attack when encountered or evolved during the event.

  • Galarian Rapidash: Wild Charge
  • Gardevoir: Synchronoise
  • Absol: Brutal Swing
  • Garchomp: Earth Power
  • Bewear wearing a wilderness cape: Drain Punch
