The Steeled Resolve event returns with the debut of Orthworm in Pokémon GO. Orthworm, the Earthworm Pokémon, is a Steel-type Pokémon originally discovered in the Paldea Region. Additionally, Trainers may encounter a Shiny Orthworm if lucky.
Steeled Resolve event details
The event is scheduled on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. local time. It will continue until Monday, May 4, 2026, at 8:00 p.m. local time. During the event, you may encounter steel-type Pokémon in the wild. These are Magnemite, Aron, Ferroseed, Pineco, Nosepass, Bronzor, and Drilbur. You might also encounter Pawniard
Furthermore, Steel-type Pokémon such as Honedge, Shieldon, and Beldum will be available in One-Star Raids. Orthworm, the new Pokémon, will be available in Three-Star Raids. Pokémon encountered after winning either of these raids may be a Shiny one!
Should you raid Orthworm?
The straight answer is NO! However, if you want to have it registered in your PokéDex, then you should go for it. You can use your Daily Free Raid Pass to raid this Pokémon. If you do this, you will have 7 Orthworm by the end of the event.
Here is why
Orthworm’s maximum Combat Power (CP) is 2599 CP. It is a single-type (i.e., steel) Pokémon and is weak to Fighting-, Fire-, and Ground-type attacks. Based on this, it is not really useful in raids and battles. As for the shiny, you can wait for when it will be back in the wild or as a featured Pokémon during an upcoming Community Day.
Orthworm can be useful in the Great and Ultra League. However, you will need one with good PVP IV (i.e., IV with 0 to 1 Attack, 5 to 15 Defense, and 12 to 15 HP) for Great League or (IV with 5 to 8 Attack, 12 to 15 Defense, and 13 to 15 HP) for the Ultra League.
The Rank 1 Orthworm for the respective leagues is with the following IVs.
- Great League: 0-15-14
- Ultra League: 8-15-15
If you do raid this Pokémon, the perfect one from raids is with 1642 CP when encountered during Snow weather in-game. It is with 1313 CP during other weather conditions in-game.
Steeled Resolve: Shiny Meltan
Shiny Meltan will be available to catch during the event. However, it is not a guarantee that you will encounter one.
You can encounter and catch Meltan by opening the Mystery Box. Mystery Box is a “Trainer Boost” item which can be obtained by sending a Pokémon from Pokémon GO to Pokémon HOME or the Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! or Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee games for Nintendo Switch.

Please note that the wait before you can open the Mystery Box again will be reduced to every 24 hours during this event.
Other event details
Field Research tasks
Steel-type Pokémon such as Magnemite, Pineco, Nosepass, Bronzor, Drilbur, Ferroseed, Beldum, and Shieldon will be available to encounter when you complete certain Field Research tasks.
The following are the tasks and associated encounters. The hundo CP are in Parentensis.
- Power up Steel-type Pokémon 5 times: Ferroseed (403 CP), Magnemite (583 CP), or Pineco (475 CP)
- Catch 5 Steel-type Pokémon: Bronzor (258 CP), Drilbur (589 CP), or Nosepass (425 CP)
- Use a Steel-type Charged Attack in a battle: Beldum (418 CP), or Shieldon (381 CP)
GO Pass and GO Pass Deluxe
Trainers will automatically receive GO Pass: Steeled Resolve – Taken Over on Tuesday, April 28, at 10:00 a.m. local time. You can upgrade to the GO Pass Deluxe for more Pokémon encounters and rewards.
You can collect GO Points and rank up to get additional rewards through Monday, May 4, 2026, at 8:00 p.m. local time. Additionally, from Saturday, May 2, at 12:00 a.m. to Monday, May 4, at 7:59 p.m. local time, there’s no daily limit for how many GO Points you can earn.
Rewards unlocked in the GO Pass will expire on Wednesday, May 6, at 7:59 p.m. local time.

- Tier 1: 2× Catch Candy
- Tier 2: Earn more Stardust from defeating Team GO Rocket Grunts.
There will be additional bonus tasks during the event for your GO Pass: Steeled Resolve – Taken Over.
