Top Tips & Tricks for Beldum Community Day Classic

The August 2024 Pokémon GO Community Day Classic featuring Beldum, the Iron Ball Pokémon, is on Sunday, August 18, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time. The event features Beldum appearing more than usual in the wild with increased shiny odds of 1 in 25.

Legacy Attack/Move

During the event, you can fully evolve Beldum into Metagross to get a Metagross that knows Meteor Mash as a Charged Attack/Move. Meteor Mash is an exclusive Steel-type Charged Attack that deals 100 damage in both Trainer Battles (PVP) and in Gyms and raids (PVE).

You will need 25 Candy to evolve Beldum into Metang, and 100 Candy to evolve Metang into Metagross.

100% IV Beldum

There are many possibilities to encounter a 100% IV Beldum in the wild. You will need to know all the maximum CP for all the different Beldum power-up levels. This varies for boosted weather and non-boosted weather Beldum. You will need to catch as many as you can. The maximum CP a Beldum can have during a boosted weather condition (Snowy or Windy) is 906 CP at level 35. This would be 837 CP at level 30 in non-boosted weather conditions. These should be guaranteed hundo (i.e. 100% IV Beldum).

Likewise, it is easier to know the CP of a 100% IV Beldum encountered via completing Field or Special Research. The CP of a 100% IV Beldum from field or special research is 418 CP and a power-up level of 15.

Perfect PVP IVs Beldum

If you are looking for a Beldum or Metang or Metagross you can use in the GO Battle League, you should be on the lookout for the following Individual Values (IVs).

To know which Beldum can potentially be used in the GO Battle League while you are playing the Beldum Community Day Classic, you should know the Pokémon GO search strings to mass transfer what you do not need except those with PVP IVs

  • For the Great League, you need a Beldum with 2-15-15 (attack-defense-hp) values. This is a rank 1 Beldum (among 4096 possible Beldum encounters) that you should evolve into Metagross.
  • For the Ultra League, you need a Beldum with 0-15-13 (attack-defense-hp) values. This is a rank 1 Beldum (among 4096 possible Beldum encounters) that you should evolve into Metagross.
  • For the Master League, you need a Beldum with 15-15-15 (attack-defense-hp) values. This is a rank 1 Beldum (among 4096 possible Beldum encounters) that you should evolve into Metagross. This is a 100% Beldum IVs.

Currently, you don’t need Metagross for the GO Battle League. There are better Steel- and Psychic-type Pokémon that you can use instead of Metagross. However, you need a good Metagross for raids. As a raid attacker, Shadow Metagross is currently the #2 non-mega Steel-type Pokémon and #5 non-mega Psychic-type Pokémon. Non-Shadow Metagross is currently the #3 non-mega Steel-type Pokémon and #15 non-mega Psychic-type Pokémon raid attacker.

  • 1/4 Hatch Distance when Eggs are placed into Incubators during the event.
  • Lure Modules activated during the event will last for three hours.
  • Incense (excluding Daily Adventure Incense) activated during the event will last for three hours.
  • Take five snapshots during Community Day for encounters with Beldum.

Stardust Gain

You can gain a lot of Stardust if you hatch a lot of eggs (especially 12km Eggs) while using Starpiece for the entire duration of the Beldum Community Day Classic. This is something you can take advantage of since we get the opportunity to remove the Charged Attack Frustration from Shadow Pokemon (one of the bonuses from the Worlds event). You can buy Rocket Radars, battle Grunt Leaders (Arlo, Sierra, and Cliff), get the 12km Eggs, and hatch them.

XP Gain

Likewise, you can gain up to 200,000 XP or more if you catch as many as you can (with Excellent Throws) while using Lucky Eggs for the entire duration of the event.

Candy Gain

You can also gain a lot of candy if you catch as many as you can while using a max-level mega Pokémon for the entire duration of the Beldum Community Day Classic. The best Pokémon to mega-evolve is any Steel- or Psychic-type Pokémon that can be mega-evolved (or as a Primal). The best one I would recommend is a Mega (level 3) Steelix which is both a Steel- and Ground-type Pokémon. Others are either Mega Lucario, Mega Gardevoir, Mega Scizor, Mega Alakazam, Mega Aggron, Mega Medicham, Mega Latios, Mega Latias, Mega Rayquaza, or Mega Slowbro. In addition to using a Mega Pokémon, you should also use Pinap (or Silver) Berries while catching.

Platinum Medals

These are the platinum medals you should work on.

  • Psychic-type medal and Steel-type medal: catch a lot of Beldum to increase your count towards 2500 Psychic- and or Steel-type Pokémon.
  • Breeder medal: hatch a lot of Eggs to increase your count toward 2500 Eggs hatched.
  • Cameraman medal: snap your Buddy 5 times to increase your count towards 400 Snapshots.
  • Picknicker: drop Lure Modules (especially Magnetic Lure Module) on PokéStops to increase your count towards 2500 Pokémon caught by other trainers from your Lure Module.
  • Showcase Star: drop your largest Beldum or Metagross in PokéStop Showcases for the chance to win and increase your count towards 100 Showcase wins.

Field Research Tasks

Field research tasks awarding additional encounters with Beldum or 500 Stardust or 5 Great Balls or 2 Ultra Balls, or 2 Pinap Berries will be available between 2:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. local time. The research task is as follows;

  • Catch 3 Beldum.

If you get a Beldum with 420 CP, that’s a hundo!

PokéStop Showcases

There will be PokéStop showcases featuring Beldum and Metagross. Make sure you enter your largest Beldum and Metagross to increase your chances of getting some rewards when the showcase ends on Sunday, August 18, 2024, at 8:00 p.m. local time. Also, each showcase win counts towards the Showcase Star medal that awards an encounter with Phd Pikachu.

Finally, make sure you catch ’em all. This is the basic requirement to get anything good from this event. If you want something great, then you’ve got to put in extra effort on the tips and tricks you just read.
