
The Water Research Day in Pokémon GO features some Water-type Pokémon like Lotad, Feebas, and Clamperl. Trainers participating in this event will get these event-themed Pokémon by completing Field Research tasks.
Replay: Water Research Day
On Saturday, March 21, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time, Lotad, Feebas, or Clamperl will be available as encounters after completing certain event-exclusive Field Research Tasks. In addition, you will have an increased chance of encountering a Shiny one.
You can get these Field Research tasks by spinning PokéStops starting from 2:00 p.m. on the day of the event. These tasks will be available from PokéStops until 5:00 p.m. local time. You will only get one task per PokéStop. You should play this event at a location with lots of PokéStops.
The Field Research tasks will most likely be in these formats.
- Catch X Pokémon
- Make X Nice Curveball Throws
- Make X Great Throws
- Power up Pokémon X times
- Send X Gifts and add a sticker to each
- Spin X PokéStops or Gyms
Where X represents a certain number.

Wild Encounters
In addition to having those Water-type Pokémon as Field Research encounters, some other Water-type Pokémon will be available in the wild. These include Magikarp, Chinchou, and more.

This Timed Research will challenge you to complete Field Research tasks to encounter more of Lotad, Feebas, and Clamperl. You will also earn XP and Stardust!
