The Buddy Trek event details have been announced! Get ready to hit the ground and log some miles, trainers! The upcoming Fall Marathon: Buddy Trek event is from Tuesday, October 13, at 10:00 a.m. to Monday, October 19, 2026, at 8:00 p.m. local time. This event introduces exciting new features, gameplay upgrades, and a brand-new Pokémon debut.
Whether you are looking to rack up XP, power up your buddy, or catch rare Pokémon, here is a complete, detailed breakdown of everything happening during the Fall Marathon: Buddy Trek.
Buddy Trek Pokémon Debut
For the very first time in Pokémon GO, Bramblin is making its official debut! If you are lucky, you will have the chance to encounter this tumbleweed Pokémon during the event. Bramblin can be found by:
- Completing the event-themed GO Pass tasks.
- Using Incense
Buddy Trek Super Max Level Update
Starting with the Fall Marathon: Buddy Trek event, you can increase Mega Manectric’s mega level to its new Super Max Level.
Prerequisite: You must first increase a Pokémon’s Mega Level to the third level (Max) before you can push it to Super Max Level. (See: Mega Pokémon Levels in Pokémon GO)
Powering Up: Mega evolving alone won’t be enough. You will need to use that specific Pokémon’s Mega Energy to power it up to Super Max.
New Charged Attack: When Mega Evolved, Manectric will gain access to an additional Charged Attack called Discharge+. In Trainer Battles, it deals 50 power, while it deals 120 power in Raid Battles.
Note: The power of this attack increases as the Pokémon’s Mega Level increases.
Buddy Trek: Fall Marathon Wild Encounters
Throughout the week, event-themed Pokémon will flood both the wild and Incense pools. If you are lucky, you might even encounter their Shiny variants!

Depending on the day, different Pokémon will be attracted to Incense (excluding the Daily Adventure Incense).

- October 16 at 10:00 a.m. to October 19, 2026, at 8:00 p.m. local time: Hisuian Growlithe*, Nincada*, Electrike*, Helioptile*, and Bramblin

Buddy Trek: Fall Marathon 2026 Event Bonuses
- Increased chance to encounter Shiny Electrike.
- Increased chance to encounter Shiny Hisuian Growlithe from Incense between October 16 and October 19.
GO Pass Tier Bonuses
- Tier 1 (Starting at Rank 10): Incense (excluding the Daily Adventure Incense) activated during the event will last for two hours.
- Tier 2 (Starting at Rank 20): Earn 5x Mega Energy by exploring with Electrike or Manectric as your buddy (requires Mega Evolving Manectric at least once first).
Buddy Trek: Fall Marathon 2026 Field and Timed Research
Field Research Tasks: Complete event-themed tasks to earn encounters with Doduo, Electrike, Bramblin, and more. Some tasks will also reward Manectric Mega Energy or Rare Candy.
Free Timed Research: A free Timed Research track will be available, rewarding you with 16,800 XP and an encounter with Pikachu wearing a marathon visor
Deadline: All Timed Research tasks must be completed and rewards claimed by Monday, October 19, 2026, at 8:00 p.m. local time.
GO Pass: Fall Marathon, Deluxe, and Web Store Bundles
The GO Pass system returns for the Fall Marathon event, offering a free progression track alongside upgraded paid tiers.
Free GO Pass: Automatically activated for all trainers on Tuesday, October 13. Collect GO Points to rank up and earn event-themed Pokémon encounters, Incense, Rare Candy, Ultra Balls, and more.
GO Pass Deluxe (US$4.99): Unlocks upgraded rewards on both tracks, including additional Pokémon encounters, Incense, Manectric Mega Energy, and Rare Candy XL.
GO Pass Deluxe + 6 Ranks (US$6.99): Instantly grants enough GO Points to reach Rank 7 alongside all Deluxe rewards.
