Mega Mewtwo X and Mega Mewtwo Y debut in Pokémon GO during the Pokémon GO Fest 2026. These are the Mega Evolutions of Mewtwo, the Genetic Pokémon. Which means, they will be available in Super Mega Raids, and there will be Mega Mewtwo Mega Energy as part of the rewards for defeating either version.

How to Mega Evolve Mewtwo
Mewtwo (new or old) can now Mega Evolve into either Mega Mewtwo X or Mega Mewtwo Y. However, to Mega Evolve, Mewtwo will require much more Mega Energy than other Pokémon.
You will need 7,500 Mega Energy for the first-time mega evolution and then more Mega Energy for subsequent mega-evolutions to make a Max Level Mega Mewtwo. You will then need an additional 5,000 Mega Energy to get a Super Mega Mewtwo X or Super Mega Mewtwo Y.
Mewtwo Mega Energy will be available for the first time from Mega Mewtwo Super Mega Raids during Pokémon GO Fest 2026. Trainers will be getting a huge amount of Mega Energy for each Mega Mewtwo defeated. The amount depends on how fast the raids are completed.
Additionally, as a special bonus during Pokémon GO Fest 2026: Global, every Mega Mewtwo caught from Super Mega Raids will have at least one* Mega Level already unlocked. Likewise, each Mega Mewtwo can be Mega Evolved without the initial energy cost.

The Mega Energy cap for Mewtwo is 50,000 Mega Energy.
You can also walk a Mewtwo you have Mega-evolved to get 100 Mega Energy whenever you get candy from walking Mewtwo.
*if you’re lucky, it might even be at Mega Level 2 or 3!
During the Pokémon GO Fest 2026: Global, Trainers can also collect Mega Energy by completing GO Fest Timed Research.
Please note the following.
- You will need to defeat Mega Mewtwo X in Super Mega Raids to get the energy you need to Mega Evolve Mewtwo into Mega Mewtwo X.
- You will need to defeat Mega Mewtwo Y in Super Mega Raids to get the energy you need to Mega Evolve Mewtwo into Mega Mewtwo Y.
Mega Mewtwo X and Mega Mewtwo Y Debut: Featured Attacks
During GO Fest: Global,
- Mewtwo caught from Mega Mewtwo X Super Mega raids will know the Fast Attack Counter.
- Mewtwo caught from Mega Mewtwo Y Super Mega raids will know the Charged Attack Psystrike.
You will need to raid either version to get their Mega Energy.
