Unity Raids in Pokémon GO is a new in-game feature dedicated to raids. More specifically, the feature helps Trainers win more raids that may be difficult to complete. In essence, Unity Raids will be useful for raids like Super Mega Raids and future raids in Pokémon GO with increased difficulty.
Unity Raids are unique battles and a highly collaborative raid tier where hundreds of Trainers gather to battle and defeat stronger raid bosses. Once you enter Unity Raids, you cannot leave until the raid is completed.
How do Unity Raids in Pokémon GO work?
You can select up to six Pokémon to use for the Unity Raid. These Pokémon will be used in raids, just like during normal raids. However, if all six Pokémon faint, they will automatically revive after a period of time during unity raids.
Furthermore, you can use Unity Attacks to finish off a raid. This only happens when the raid boss has only a little health (HP) left. To use this attack, you and other Trainers in the raid will have to raise and hold your device in the air.
You will need to keep holding your device in the air until the raid boss is defeated. This is the only way to charge the Unity Attack that you need to defeat the raid boss. Likewise, you need to keep holding your device in the air to catch the raid boss (e.g., Metwo) afterwards.
However, due to how the mechanics may be configured, you may not need to raise your device too high in the air for the raid to be completed automatically.
Also, note that you won’t be able to use berries when catching the Pokémon you got as an encounter from Unity Raids. Furthermore, catches are guaranteed.
Other important details
Unity Raids require a large number of Trainers for the raid boss to be successfully defeated. Therefore, it will be an event-themed type of raid. The regular or standard raid tiers will be available in-game. However, Unity Raids will only happen during special events like the in-person GO Fest 2026 and Pokémon GO Fest 2026.
Unity Raid Mechanics
The following are the other mechanics of the new Raid feature.
- The raid lasts 180 seconds. It must be completed on or before this time. If not, everyone needs to re-lobby.
- There are no shields to break. Unity attacks will be used instead
- Using a Mega Pokémon in your battle party is not required.
- Each Unity Raids reward between 300 and 450 Mega Energy.
- It is possible to use Remote raid during some specific global event (e.g., Global GO Fest)
