Best Counters for Mewtwo

The best counters for Mewtwo are what you and your battle team need to have to defeat Mewtwo in raids successfully. Mewtwo will be available in raids from Monday, May 25, 2026, to Monday, June 1, 2026. The raids will be available from 5:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. each day in Japan Time (JPT).

Mewtwo is available in raids during the in-person Pokémon GO Fest in Tokyo. It will also be available in raids during the other in-person GO Fests.

Please note that those who raid Mewtwo remotely but do not have a ticket for the in-person GO Fest will get an encounter with Mewtwo after completing the raids. However, the Mewtwo caught will not have a Special or Location Background.

Best Counters for Mewtwo

Mewtwo is a Psychic-type Legendary Pokémon that is weak to Pokémon with Dark-, Bug-, and Ghost-type attacks. Therefore, you will need to use the Pokémon that can learn these attacks.

These Pokémon are as follows.

  • Mega Tyranitar with Bite as a Fast Attack and Brutal Swing as a Charged Attack.
  • Dawn Wings Necrozma with Shadow Claw as a Fast Attack and Moongeist Beam as a Charged Attack.
  • Shadow Hydreigon with Bite as a Fast Attack and Brutal Swing as a Charged Attack.
  • Shadow Darkrai with Snarl as a Fast Attack and Shadow Ball as a Charged Attack.
  • Blacephalon with Astonish as a Fast Attack and Shadow Ball as a Charged Attack.
  • Shadow Tyranitar with Bite as a Fast Attack and Brutal Swing as a Charged Attack.

These are the Pokémon you should save in your battle party and swap to whenever you join a Mewtwo raid.

Other options?

Of course, there are other options to use. This is only recommended if you have at least 10 Trainers participating in the raid. This will be mostly possible since more Trainers will be participating in the raids during the in-person GO Fest.

The following are the other options.

  • Mega Gengar with Shadow Claw as a Fast Attack and Shadow Ball as a Charged Attack.
  • Shadow Chandelure with Hex as a Fast Attack and Shadow Ball as a Charged Attack.
  • Shadow Hydreigon with Bite as a Fast Attack and Brutal Swing as a Charged Attack.
  • Heracross with Fury Cutter as a Fast Attack and Megahorn as a Charged Attack.
  • Shadow Absol with Snarl as a Fast Attack and Brutal Swing as a Charged Attack.
  • Lunala with Shadow Claw as a Fast Attack and Shadow Ball as a Charged Attack.

Hundo CP for Mewtwo from Raids

The hundo CP (i.e., the perfect CP) for Mewtwo caught from raids depends on the in-game weather condition when it was caught. If caught during Windy weather conditions in-game, the hundo CP is 2984 CP. Otherwise, the hundo CP is 2387 CP. If any of these is Shiny, that’s a shundo.

All the best!
