Whether you prefer the scorching heat of Fire-type Pokémon or the crisp bite of Ice-type Pokémon, this event offers a unique opportunity to balance your Pokédex while earning some incredible rewards through the event-themed GO Pass.
Here is everything you need to know to get the most out of this icy-hot week.
Arctic Embers event Main Attraction
The highlight of this event is undoubtedly the debut of Shiny Snom! For the first time ever, you’ll have the chance to encounter this Ice-type in its shiny form. You can hunt for Snom by completing specific GO Pass tasks or by hatching them from 5 km Eggs.
Additionally, Trainers will have an increased chance to encounter the shiny variations of Ponyta, Slugma, Snover, and Vanillite.
Top Priorities for Trainers
With so many spawns, it can be hard to decide where to focus your time. Here is my recommendation for what to prioritize:
Shiny Snom: This is the headline of the event. Prioritize completing the event GO Pass and hatching 5 km Eggs to maximize your encounter chances.
XL Candy Grinding: Since this event features specific evolutions like Snom, Ponyta, and Vanillite, use this week to Pinap Berry these species to gather Candy for powering them up.
Max Out the GO Pass: The 1/4 Egg Hatch Distance (for Deluxe pass holders) is a massive advantage. If you plan to hatch a lot of eggs, the Deluxe pass is highly recommended for this week alone.
Arctic Embers event Wild Encounters
Pokémon GO events are known for shaking up what you see in the wild, and Arctic Embers event is no exception.
While you can expect to find event-themed Pokémon like Vulpix, Alolan Vulpix, Growlithe, Swinub, and Snorunt in the wild throughout the week, the event also features a unique daily rotation for four key Pokémon.
Depending on the day, you will see an increased presence of:
Ponyta and Snover: Available on August 4, 6, 8, and 10.
Slugma and Vanillite: Available on August 5, 7, 9, and 10.
Be sure to plan your walks accordingly so you don’t miss out on the specific species you are looking to evolve or power up!
