Mega Sceptile and its Recommended Counters

Mega Sceptile is a Grass- and Dragon-type Forest Pokémon. It is available in Pokémon GO via Mega Raids. It is extremely weak (2.56x) against Pokémon with Ice-type attacks. It is moderately weak (1.6x) against Pokémon with Bug-, Dragon-, Fairy-, Flying-, and Poison-type attacks. Its base form, Sceptile, is one of the first-partner Pokémon of the Hoenn Region.

Mega Sceptile Recommended Counters

The following are the recommended counters you should have in your battle party when participating in Mega Sceptile raids.

Using the above-recommended teams will make trainers 1 – 3 Trainers defeat Mega Sceptile faster. However, if you do not have these full teams, you can still win. You need to raid with at least 4 other trainers. Ensure you use Pokemon with either Ice- or Dragon-type move as a Fast Attack or Flying- or Ice-type move as a Charged Attack.

  • Sceptile’s maximum Combat Power (CP) stat is 3117 CP (at level 50).
  • Its best moves/attacks in Pokémon GO are Fury Cutter as a Fast Attack and Frenzy Plant as a Charged Attack.
  • Its encounters are boosted during Sunny weather in-game.
  • Its encounters can be Shiny.
  • It requires a maximum of 3 km walking distance to earn a Candy and 15 Mega Energy (if you already Mega-evolved the Sceptile).
  • Sceptile is effective against Pokémon with either Electric-, Grass-, Ground-, or Water-type moves/attacks.
  • Sceptile was last featured in Mega Raids from Wednesday, April 9, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. local time to Monday, April 21, 2025, 10:00 a.m. local time.
  • Any Sceptile obtained from Mega Raids can be encountered as follows
    • from 1500 CP to 1575 CP (if not weather-boosted)
    • from 1876 CP to 1969 CP (if weather-boosted)
  • Any Sceptile obtained from a Field or Special Research can be from 1125 CP to 1181 CP.
  • 1575 CP, 1969 CP, and 1181 CP are the CP for a perfect (aka, hundo) one when encountered from their respective means.
  • The tallest possible one is 2.64 m high (i.e. XXL).
  • The shortest possible one is 0.83 m high (i.e. XXS).
  • Sceptile requires 200 Mega Energy for its first Mega Evolution into Mega Sceptile
