Twilight Trails is the title of the new Season in Pokémon GO. It will start on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. local time and will continue until Tuesday, December 1, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. local time. This new Season is the 24th Season of Pokémon GO.

Seasons always breathe fresh life into the game, shifting spawn pools, introducing new quality-of-life updates, and giving us fresh milestones to grind toward. If you are looking to maximize your gameplay, level up efficiently, and catch rare shiny variants during this upcoming phase, here is a comprehensive look at what you need to know about the Twilight Trails season.

What is “Twilight Trails”?

As Pokémon GO cycles through its yearly calendar, Scopely Explore and the Pokémon Company introduces overarching themes that dictate wild spawns, egg pools, raid rotations, and research breakthroughs. “Twilight Trails” leans heavily into atmospheric, nocturnal, and mysterious vibes. While previous seasons focused on bright horizons or heavy exploration mechanics, Twilight Trails invites players to explore the paths less traveled, cueing up spooky, mystical, and shadow-aligned themes that resonate deeply with veteran players and collectors alike.

Twilight Trails New Pokémon Debuts

Pokémon like Mega Chandelure, Mega Staraptor, Maschiff, and Mabosstiff will be making their debut in Pokémon GO during this new season. Additionally, we will see Dynamax Pokémon debuts such as Dynamax Rhyhorn, Dynamax Sneasel, Dynamax Sizzlipede, Dynamax Uxie, Dynamax Mesprit, and Dynamax Azelf.

Twilight Trails Events

There will be events during all the months of the new season (September, October, and November). The details for some of these have already been released. They are as follows.

Twilight Trails Season Monthly GO Pass Milestone Bonuses

One of the highlights of the current seasonal rollout is the structured progression system via the GO Pass. Grinding through ranks yields passive perks that genuinely change your day-to-day quality of life. Key milestone ranks offer incredible incentives:

  • Rank 1: Trainers unlock bonuses that streamline trading, including extra candy and guaranteed Candy XL from trades to fuel your competitive team building. Trainers level 31 and above will receive one guaranteed Candy XL when trading Pokémon. There will also be one additional Candy for trading Pokémon.

  • Rank 25: Focuses heavily on social aspects, granting upgrades to your gift-handling capabilities, allowing you to send, open, and hold significantly more gifts each day. Trainers will have increased limits on opening Gifts, receiving Gifts from PokéStop and Gym Photo Discs, and storing Gifts.

  • Rank 50: Targets explorers by doubling down on exploration items, such as boosting your Daily Incense duration to a full 30 minutes.

  • Rank 75: The endgame tier rewards hard-core grinders with additional XP and Stardust bonuses when hatching eggs, making every kilometer walked count double. Trainers will have increased XP and Stardust from hatching Eggs

Each month will have a different legendary Pokémon as the main reward. These are Kyogre, Groudon, and Latios.

Pokémon GO: Twilight Trails Seasonal Rotations

During the Twilight Trails season, players can experience a variety of updates to egg hatches, research encounters, and in-game rotations. These seasonal shifts provide continuous opportunities to encounter distinct Pokémon species as you explore during the season.

Research Breakthrough Encounters

Completing Field Research tasks throughout the season allows trainers to unlock Research Breakthrough encounters. These milestone achievements feature random encounters with a variety of rotating, season-themed Pokémon, ensuring fresh rewards each week as you progress on your trail.

Season-Themed Egg Hatches

Egg pooling rotates for the season, offering specific hatches across different distance categories. For the 2 km egg pool, trainers can hatch the following featured Pokémon, with chances to encounter their Shiny variations:

  • Elekid (can be Shiny)

  • Magby (can be Shiny)

  • Azurill (can be Shiny)

  • Additional undisclosed Pokémon matching the season’s theme
