Mega Beedrill Recommended Counters in Pokémon GO (September 2026)

Mega Beedrill is a dual Bug- and Poison-type Pokémon that possesses weaknesses to Fire-, Flying-, Psychic-, and Rock-type attacks. Due to its fragile defense stats, a well-prepared team of high-DPS counters can bring it down with incredible efficiency.

Bringing the right counters will make all the difference if you are planning to farm Mega Energy, hunt for a shiny, or simply add Beedrill to your collection.

Mega Beedrill will be available in Mega Raids in Pokémon GO from Tuesday, September 8, at 6:00 a.m. to Tuesday, September 15, at 9:00 p.m. local time.

Note that Fire-, Psychic-, Flying-, and Rock-type attackers play heavily into Mega Beedrill’s vulnerabilities, making them the absolute highest priority. Legendary and Shadow options output massive damage, but standard alternatives will easily pull their weight.

Mega Beedrill Raid Boss Moveset

When battling Mega Beedrill in raids, it will utilize its own set of Fast and Charged attacks. Being aware of its moveset helps you anticipate incoming damage:

  • Fast Attacks: Bug Bite (Bug), Poison Jab (Poison), Infestation (Bug), or Poison Sting (Poison)

  • Charged Attacks: X-Scissor (Bug), Sludge Bomb (Poison), Aerial Ace (Flying), Drill Run (Ground), and the additional attack as a mega, Fell Stinger+ (Bug)

  • Resistances: Avoid bringing Pokémon that rely on Bug, Fighting, Grass, Fairy, or Poison-type attacks, as Mega Beedrill resists these damage types.

Best Mega Beedrill Budget Counters

Not everyone currently has access to high-tier Shadow Pokémon or rare legendary options. Fortunately, Mega Beedrill’s frailty makes it accessible with strong non-legendary choices. Excellent budget choices are as follows:

  • Chandelure with Fire Spin as a Fast Attack and Overheat as a Charged Attack.

  • Rhyperior with Smack Down as a Fast Attack and Rock Wrecker as a Charged Attack.

  • Toucannon with Peck as a Fast Attack and Drill Peck as a Charged Attack.

  • Darmanitan with Fire Fang as a Fast Attack and Overheat as a Charged Attack.

  • Heatran with Fire Spin as a Fast Attack and Flamethrower as a Charged Attack.

Mega Beedrill Raid Tips

Having the best counters may not be enough. You also need a good strategy. The following tips will help you a great deal:

  • Lead with a Mega Pokémon (like Mega Charizard Y or Mega Blaziken) to boost teammates’ corresponding Fire attacks. Remember, you can only use one Mega/Primal Pokémon per lobby.

  • Coordinate Mega Evolutions with your raid group for maximum efficiency.

  • Use Pokémon with matching Fast and Charged Moves (e.g., full Fire-type sets).

  • Revive and rejoin if necessary rather than using weaker backup teams.

  • If you can, battle Mega Beedrill during Sunny/Clear (for Fire) or Windy (for Psychic/Flying) weather conditions in-game for extra damage boosts.

How Many Trainers are Needed?

Due to Mega Beedrill’s exceptionally low defense, it is one of the easiest Mega Bosses to defeat. In ideal conditions with top-tier counters like Shadow Mewtwo or Mega Charizard Y, it can easily be defeated by a single ultra-prepared player. For most trainers utilizing standard or budget counters, a group of 2 to 3 players will comfortably secure the win.

Hundo CP for Beedrill from Raids

You will get rewards such as Beedrill Mega Energy, items, and an encounter with regular Beedrill after completing the Mega Raid successfully.

The hundo CP (i.e., the perfect IV CP) for Beedrill caught from raids depends on the in-game weather condition when it was caught. If caught during Rainy (boosts Bug) or Cloudy (boosts Poison) weather conditions, the hundo CP is 1318 CP. Otherwise, the standard hundo CP (Level 20) is 1054 CP.

For a complete overview of what to expect when catching Beedrill post-raid, keep an eye out for these CP ranges:

  • Standard Catch CP (Level 20): 994 – 1054 CP.

  • Weather Boosted Catch CP (Level 25): 1242 – 1318CP.

If you get a good one, teach it Poison Jab as a Fast Attack and X-Scissor and Sludge Bomb as Charged Attacks for its optimal Bug/Poison raid and PvP utility.

With its double weakness to Fire-type moves and fragile defenses, Mega Beedrill is a quick and rewarding addition to your raid rotation. Grab a friend, lock in your best Fire- and Psychic-type attackers, and claim your Mega Energy!
