The Pokémon Fossil Museum is Heading to Denver

The Pokémon Fossil Museum event, similar to the one in Chicago, is coming to Denver, Colorado. The Pokémon Fossil Museum in Chicago ends in April 2027. The event in Denver starts in May 2027. Although at this time, there is no official news about the event coming to Pokémon GO. We can expect a concurrent event in-game.

If you are a paleontology enthusiast and a fan of the Pokémon universe! Get ready to pack your bags and head out on a brand-new real-world adventure. The wildly popular and deeply inspiring Pokémon Fossil Museum exhibition is officially making its way to the Denver Museum of Nature & Science.

Starting on May 28, 2027, this special exhibition will open its doors to the public in Denver, marking a major milestone for fans across the United States. This upcoming residency is the exhibition’s second major appearance in North America, following its incredible debut run at Chicago’s prestigious Field Museum.

Whether you have been catching them all since the Kanto region days or are just discovering the magic of paleontology through modern games, this immersive event is shaping up to be an absolute must-visit cultural experience.

The Pokémon Fossil Museum: Bridging the Real World and the Pokémon Universe

What makes the Pokémon Fossil Museum so captivating is the brilliant way it merges science with fantasy. The exhibition invites visitors of all ages to experience authentic, real-world fossils and scientific casts placed side-by-side with stunning, life-size models of iconic Fossil Pokémon.

By drawing direct parallels between prehistoric creatures from Earth’s history and the legendary fossil Pokémon we love from the games, the exhibition creates a seamless bridge between our physical world and the vast universe of Pokémon.

Have you ever wondered what kind of real-world creature inspired the ancient, powerful Tyrantrum? Or what prehistoric sea life gave rise to Omanyte and Kabuto? This exhibition answers those questions, using life-size models of iconic Fossil Pokémon to show the clear, direct parallels between the fictional past and our planet’s own remarkable prehistory.

As you wander through the gallery spaces, detailed signage throughout the exhibition illustrates the actual processes behind how fossils are discovered, excavated, prepared, and studied in both the real world and the Pokémon world. These educational insights are designed to spark curiosity, deepen an appreciation for science, and motivate Trainers of all ages to reflect on their own unique connections with nature and history.

Catch It in Chicago First, or Get Ready for Denver

If you are eager to see the magic up close right away and happen to be near the Midwest, you still have time! The exhibition is currently running at Chicago’s Field Museum before it wraps up its chapter there on April 11, 2027. You can snag tickets directly on the Field Museum website if you want to experience it before it moves west.

However, if you are planning to catch the Mile High City residency, the countdown to late spring next year is officially on. Because this is a high-demand, limited-engagement exhibition, spots are expected to fill up fast.

If you are planning to attend in Denver and want to make sure you do not miss out on this experience, it is highly recommended that you act on the following to stay ahead of the crowd:

  • Visit the official Denver Museum of Nature & Science website immediately.

  • Locate the section for the Pokémon Fossil Museum exhibition.

  • Join the official interest list to be among the very first to know when tickets officially become available for purchase and when new details are announced.
