Zorua Community Day Recap (October 2026)

Shiny Hunting, XP and the Numbers That Mattered

This thorough Zorua Community Day Recap breaks down exactly what I achieved during Pokémon GO’s October 2026 Community Day event. Let’s dive into the final numbers, from XP and Candy milestones to Shiny rates and the impact of exclusive Sucker Punch Zoroark.

Pokémon GO’s October 2026 Community Day put Zorua in the spotlight on Saturday, October 10, giving Trainers three hours to catch the Tricky Fox Pokémon, hunt for its Shiny form, build up Candy and XP, and evolve Zorua into Zoroark with the exclusive Fast Attack Sucker Punch. The main event ran from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time, with several bonuses continuing through 9:00 p.m.

Now that the event is over, the best way to look at the Zorua Community Day Recap isn’t simply by asking only how many Zorua were caught. A good Community Day recap should show what actually changed during those three hours: how much XP was earned, how many Candy and Candy XL were collected, how many Shinies were caught, how many perfect Zorua were encountered, and whether the event produced any standout Pokémon for PvP or collection purposes.

Zorua Community Day at a Glance

Zorua appeared much more frequently in the wild throughout the event, disguising itself cleverly as players’ buddy Pokémon, giving Trainers an unusually efficient opportunity to build their collection. The event also offered a 3× XP bonus for catching Pokémon, 2× Catch Candy, and a 2× chance for Trainers level 31 and above to receive Candy XL from catches.

Those bonuses made every catch more valuable than usual.

An Incense activated during the event lasted three hours. Regular Lure Modules lasted one hour with a very high chance of attracting Zorua from 2:00 p.m. through 9:00 p.m. Zorua attracted by those Lures could also have increased Community Day Shiny chances and a Special Background.

Zorua Community Day Recap: The XP Difference Was Huge

The 3× Catch XP bonus was arguably the most important event bonus for Trainers who were focused on fast leveling and overall account progression.

Community Day is already an exceptional opportunity to accumulate experience points because of the sheer volume of quick catches. With the event multiplier active, every catch became considerably more lucrative.

My Total XP results:

  • Number of Zorua caught: 787
  • Total XP gained: 3,345,339

Catch XP rate: ~4,250 XP per catch (factoring in Excellent Throws and Lucky Eggs while most were caught via Pokémon GO+ plus).

I used 6 Lucky Eggs. Each helped double the experience points gained during peak catch sprees.

Nickit Community Day Recap: Total Stardust

The same principle applies to Stardust. The total number of catches can make a noticeable difference to Stardust.

My Total Stardust results:

  • Number of Zorua caught: 787
  • Total Stardust gained: 121,942

Catch Stardust rate: 154.94 Stardust per catch.

I used 3 Star Pieces since the focus was mainly on XP.

Candy and Candy XL: Zorua Community Day Recap

The 2× Catch Candy bonus made Zorua Candy another crucial statistic to track, while Trainers level 31 and above also benefited from the increased chance of receiving Candy XL from catches.

  • Candy Results:
      • Candy before the Community Day: 2,958
      • Candy after the Community Day: 10,976
      • Candy gained: 8,018

Candy rate: 10.0 Candy per catch.

  • Candy XL Results:
      • Candy XL before the Community Day: 776
      • Candy XL after the Community Day: 1885
      • Candy XL gained: 1,109

Candy XL rate:  ~2 Candy XL per catch.

Zorua Community Day Recap: Shiny Zorua Hunt

For collectors, the headline attraction was capturing Shiny Zorua during its heavily boosted window.

The Community Day gave Trainers a concentrated opportunity to encounter hundreds of Zorua, translating to a smooth and measurable Shiny hunt.

  • Shiny Zorua encountered: 24
  • Special Background Shiny Zorua: 1 with 3-7-11 IVs and 856 CP.

Shiny rate: ~3.05 percent, which is lower than the expected Community Day shiny rate of 1 in 20 (i.e., 5 percent).

Perfect (Hundo) Zorua Hunt

Securing hundo or shundo variants remains a primary objective for hardcore grinders during any Community Day.

  • Hundo Zorua: 0
  • Special Background Hundo Zorua: 0
  • Hundo rate: 0 percent.
  • sHundo Zorua: 0
  • Special Background sHundo Zorua: 0

Catching hundo Zorua is tough luck.

Zorua Community Day Recap: Zoroark Gets Sucker Punch

rank 1 zoroakZorua Community Day wasn’t just about collecting numbers. Trainers who evolved Zorua during the event or within the following four hours could obtain a Zoroark with the exclusive Fast Attack Sucker Punch.

The move provides solid Dark-type STAB option flexibility for Zoroark in various battling scenarios.

  • Best Zoroark results:
      • Best Great and Ultra League Zoroark: A rank 1 Zoroark with 1-15-15 IVs (and 1496 CP for the Great League and 2497 for the Ultra League.

Other Important details

super mega level mega houndoomSince Zorua is a Dark-type Pokémon, using my Mega Level 4 Mega Houndoom helped gain extra XP, Candy, and Candy XL. See image. Likewise, using Palkia Origin Forme’s Adventure Effect helped see more Zorua spawns during the Community Day.

Final Thoughts

Zorua Community Day was a particularly fun and rewarding event, largely thanks to the clever buddy-disguise mechanic and heavy progression boosts. The combination of increased wild spawns, 3× XP, 2× Candy, and Special Background lure opportunities made the three-hour window completely worthwhile.

My Zorua Community Day Recap shows that the event delivered heavily on resource gains. For collectors, the Shiny hunt and Special Background entries added an extra layer of prestige. For battlers, Sucker Punch gave Zoroark a neat tool to experiment with.
