Welcome to the first installment of my Pokémon GO weekly stats comparison. Every week of Pokémon GO means another opportunity to catch more Pokémon, catch shinies, find those elusive perfect IV Pokémon, win more raids, explore further, improve Stardust count, and make progress toward your next goals.
For this week’s comparison, we’re looking at two consecutive seven-day periods: Tuesday, August 18 to Monday, August 24, 2026, and Tuesday, August 25 to Monday, August 31, 2026. The goal is simple: see how my gameplay activity changed from one week to the next and identify the areas where the biggest improvements happened.
The results show an increase across every major statistic. However, shiny catches recorded the biggest percentage decrease of the week.
Let’s take a closer look at the numbers.
⚡ Quick Highlights:
Biggest Win: XP earned jumped by +19.5% (over 2.6M total XP).
Rarest Find: Double the Hundos caught (2 vs. 1 last week).
Biggest Drop: Shiny Pokémon caught fell by -36.4% (7 total).
📊 Weekly Stats at a Glance
| Statistic | August 18–24 | August 25–31 | % Change |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pokémon Caught | 1,983 | 2,011 | +1.4% |
| Shiny Pokémon | 11 | 7 | -36.4% |
| Hundo Pokémon | 1 | 2 | +100.0% |
| Raids Won | 28 | 30 | +7.1% |
| Distance Walked | 51.9 km | 57.0 km | +9.8% |
| PokéStops Visited | 929 | 1,077 | +16.0% |
| Stardust Earned | 202,446 | 185,845 | -8.2% |
| XP Earned | 2,197,741 | 2,626,300 | +19.5% |
The numbers point toward a noticeably more active week. The biggest improvement came from XP earned, which increased by 19.5%. PokéStops activity also jumped by 16.0%, while distance earned increased by nearly 10%. Raid activity also increased by 7.1%. Even the smallest improvement, Pokémon Caught, still represented a healthy 1.4% increase.
The standout statistics was hundo Pokémon Caught. Although it had a 100% increase, it is just an increase of 1 from the previous week.
Overall, this was a week of positive movement across the board. Except for the decrease in Shiny caught and Stardust earned. My shiny luck was meh. My Stardust gains were okay, but I spent most of it powering up the new shadow hundo Giratina (Altered Forme) I caught on August 16, 2026.
🐾 Pokémon Caught Weekly Stats Comparison
The number of Pokémon caught increased from 1,983 to 2,011, representing a 1.4% increase.
That’s an additional 28 Pokémon caught compared with the previous week.
A higher catch total can be influenced by several factors, including increased time spent playing, favorable wild spawns, events, Spotlight Hours, Incense, Lures, or simply spending more time exploring areas with high PokéStop density.
Based on the 28 Pokémon caught, it is obvious that I didn’t change anything about things that can influence catch total. I have been playing the same way consistently over the past weeks.
✨ Shiny Catches for the Weekly Stats Comparison
If there was one statistic that immediately stood out this week, it was shiny catches.
Shiny catches decreased from 11 to 7, an unremarkable 36.4% decrease. That means a 4 less shiny Pokémon were caught compared with the previous week.
I did not shiny hunt this previous week. Most importantly, I do not shiny hunt Pokémon. I leave that to luck. However, I do shiny hunt raids only if a costumed Pikachu is in raids.
These are the 7 shiny Pokémon caught.
- Shiny Fletchling, caught on August 25.
- Shiny Elgyem, caught on August 25.
- Shiny Mankey, caught on August 27 during the Mankey Spotlight Hour.
- Shiny Cosmog Suit Pikachu, caught on August 27.
- Shiny World Championship Pikachu, caught on August 27.
- Shiny Galarian Darumaka, caught on August 30.
- Shiny Nymble, caught on August 31.
💯 Hundo Caught for the Weekly Stats Comparison
Now for the statistic every collector loves to see: Hundos.
A “Hundo” is the community term for a Pokémon with perfect 15/15/15 Individual Values (IVs). In Pokémon GO’s appraisal system, a perfect Pokémon receives a four-star appraisal.
This week, the number of Hundos caught increased from 1 to 2. That’s one additional perfect Pokémon and a huge 100% increase.
These are the 2 hundo Pokémon caught.
- Hundo Pikipek, caught on August 25.
- Hundo Scorbunny, caught on August 27
⚔️ Raid Performance Weekly Stats Comparison
Raid activity also moved significantly higher.
The number of raids won increased from 28 to 30, representing a 7.1% increase. That’s two additional raid victories. The increase suggests that raiding played a minor role in this week’s gameplay compared with the previous week.
More raid participation can also contribute to additional XP, Pokémon encounters, Candy, and opportunities to hunt for high-IV or shiny raid bosses. I’ll see if I can increase my raiding this coming week.
🚶 Walking & Exploration Weekly Stats Comparison
Pokémon GO is built around exploration, and the walking statistics show another positive trend.
Distance walked increased from 51.9 km to 57.0 km, an improvement of 9.8%. That represents an additional 5.1 kilometers traveled during the week.
PokéStop activity also increased, with visits climbing from 929 to 1,077. That’s a 16.0% increase. Meaning an additional 148 PokéStop spunned.
Together, these numbers suggest that gameplay wasn’t limited to catching Pokémon from one location. More walking and more PokéStop visits indicate a broader level of exploration.
💰 Stardust Weekly Stats Comparison
Stardust is one of the most valuable resources in Pokémon GO. Whether you’re powering up a favorite Pokémon, unlocking a second Charged Attack, building a competitive PvP roster, or preparing a Legendary for battle, Stardust can disappear quickly.
This week, Stardust earned over the week decreased from 202,446 to 185,845.
That’s a loss of 16,601 Stardust, representing an 8.2% decrease.
Powering up a Shadow Legendary requires 300,000+ Stardust and 310 Candy, making a net negative balance almost guaranteed during power-up weeks. Even with an 8.2% drop in stored Stardust, the standard catch rate shows that gross Stardust generation remained strong. It was simply reinvested into a rare Pokémon.
Catching more Pokémon naturally provides more opportunities to accumulate Stardust, while other gameplay activities can contribute as well.
⭐ XP & Level Progress Weekly Stats Comparison
XP earned followed an upward trend.
Weekly XP gains increased from 2,197,741 to 2,626,300, representing a 19.5% increase.
That’s an additional 428,559 XP compared with the previous week.
The increase reflects the combination of more Pokémon catches, additional raids, more exploration, and other XP-generating activities like Friendship level-ups, opening and sending gifts, and evolving Pokémon. It is also influenced by the use of Lucky Egg, which grants 2x XP bonus.
📈 What the Weekly Stats Comparison Numbers Tell Us
So, was this actually a better Pokémon GO week?
Based on these statistics, yes.
Every major tracked statistic increased compared with the previous seven-day period. The increase in Pokémon caught shows more catching activity, while the rise in raids indicates more participation in battle content.
The 9.7% increase in walking distance looks small, but the additional 5.1 km still demonstrates increased exploration.
Perhaps the most interesting combination is the increase in both PokéStops visited and XP earned. Visiting 16% more PokéStops while earning 19.5% more XP suggests that increased movement and interaction with the game world translated into stronger overall progression.
And then there are the hundos.
A 100.0% increase makes hundo collection the standout success story of the week.
🎯 Weekly Stats Comparison and Goals for Next Week
Here’s how the statistics ranked by percentage improvement:
- 🥇 Hundo Pokémon: +100.0%
- 🥈 XP Earned: +19.5%
- 🥉 PokéStops Visited: +16.0%
With this week’s numbers moving in the right direction, the next challenge is to beat them.

Some of these targets have already been reached this week, but the objective is to maintain my gameplay with the possibility of achieving new personal records.
